Also if you throw it away they have to make a half court shot
What a great fucking win. Just awesome. Gordon and Al, ride or die time.
LOL he didn’t even get it off. Best win of the season?
Best starting five in the East! Best in the NBA! LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Suck it Sixers. Best team in the East my ass.
Definitely. Too talented.
That win feels good.
Nice win. Cs are in the Sixers’ heads.
Huge win without Kyrie. Big games from Hayward and Horford.
Just a little gamethread hyperbole but Gordon Hayward saved the season.
Also, here's our first quality road win, for all those people that still care about that.
I don't like the intentional miss since it's unnatural to aim for iron but not hit the shot. Too easy to air-ball and it's a violation.
So sweet this win is, so needed.
Only teams in the East I'm scared are the Bucks, and maybe the Knicks.
That’s a disheartening loss for Philly.
So does that mean the Cs are the best in east?
Great win. That was fun.
And bricks. If he'd shot at a decent rate this game wouldn't have been close.
Embiid committed about 13 fouls tonight.
Just wait until we get Ewing back....
Celtics win the game, but TNT's outtro features almost all Sixers player
Great win after call out by Morris The Cat
Talk radio is going to be full of hot takes tomorrow about “Celtics being better without Kyrie.”
Ok so now that it’s over. Someone help me out. How did Jaylen end up with only 23 minutes when Smart was absolutely melting into a puddle? Was there a matchup I was missing that Smart was playing well?
Yup, absolutely must get that 3 seed.
I hope this is a signature win that we can look back on as a turning point.
Rozier and Hayward are way better without him. Horford too.
That was more like it. I thought it was Hayward's best game as a Celtic.
That was about the best game this team could play given the circumstances. Defense was great, Stevens did a fantastic job (of course people will complain that he didn't "work the refs" though there is zero evidence that this does anything) and despite Smart regressing on offense, his defense and passing was brilliant per usual. Horford, Hayward and Tatum were all money.
No qualifying - that was a fantastic win.
These two teams play each other like a knife fight in a phone booth every time, but we seem to match up well with them.
I mean. It is something to behold watching him play basketball. Compete jackass
Game high scorer Hawyard with 26 points on only 11 shots, 6--7 from three, and a game leading plus11.
Maybe he wasn't feeling all this "Philly added Harris and are now better than the Cs" chatter
I eagerly await the Janos version of this post.
Don’t imagine Philly wants any part of the Celtics. Harris doesn’t add any particular matchup problem for our wing-heavy team and he’s still a ball-dominant type player who is in some ways less dangerous than a catch and shoot sniper might be in his position (imagine Middleton instead for example). Redick gets smoked by our guards. Simmons is a lost child against our D, and Embiid wears out eventually. Butler is a takeover threat but still brings his own spacing issues. Good team but hardly close to being the favorite in the conference.
They are defensively. Tonight was a throwback to the playoffs last season and without Baynes to boot.
Hayward is progressing. He isn't trying harder or anything like that imho. The stats support the idea that he is simply coming back. It just doesn't happen all at once or even quickly.
SNIPPED! Serving as the mohel tonight was ALFRED J. HORFORD.
Compare Draper tonight to Saturday night. So sad his Sixers lost.
Gordon was great, but this game was won on the defensive end, and Al Horford was great offensively, and he made Embiid his bitch from the opening bell. He was a monster on defense. 23 points, 8boards, 5 assists, 4 steals, and Embiid was out of sorts all night long because of him. Wouldn't give him an inch.
The refs did everything to steal this one from us too, except for that last no call on Al, but at that point, Embiid should have fouled out 6 times, so fuck them all.
He looked physically faster to me tonight and was moving around a lot more fluidly
Just keep fouling Ben Simmons. He’s a shaq level liability on the line without the same dominance everywhere else on the court.
The one thing I’m waiting on re: better without Kyrie is the playoffs. He’s a guy who elevates his game when it counts. Just have to see if he can help elevate everyone else’s.
The best version of this team is still the one with Kyrie starting, but it has to involve the type of ball movement that got them the W tonight.
They’re so much easier on themselves when they are moving the D around, usually with the Al pick and pop at the core of it. Al at the top of the key is arguably our best offense, whether he’s taking the open shot or attacking the closeout and using his size and vision to find the open man.
The Celtics have multiple guys who can quell Simmons' forays to the rim - both Marcuses, Tatum, Brown, Hayward, AL, Theis, Semi. AL, Baynes, and to a lesser extent Theis can deal with Embiid, with team defenders helping out to frustrate his paint game, and once frustrated, he heads out to threepointland.
The Cs also have quick perimeter defenders to get a hand up on Redick, and they can multiple guys who can exploit him at the other end. Butler to me always hurt the Cs in iso, and it's tough to iso and fiddle and diddle against a good defensive team with an extra defender, Simmons' cover, always helping out on the drive.
any poster "avoiding" the game thread tonight gets a FAIL
embiid didn't even have baynes to contend with tonight, he's always going to get his numbers but horford did a nice job on him defensively
Guys, this team is not better without Kyrie. Just stop it. This is like their 2nd win on the road in their last 18 games without Kyrie.
I don't want to hear about a schedule loss tomorrow
