I’m guessing that he saw the puck in the net when Lack picked up his glove, hence the goal call.

He didn’t call it a goal right away, it wasn’t until he skated in and looked for the puck so it was either this or he could see the puck pinned against the inside of the net on Lack’s blocker. Either way, he was pretty definitive after looking for the puck.
