I just rewound it and watched again. When the shot left Jackson's hands, he had been in the lane for 5 full seconds.
Hopefully, Danny is watching this one very closely, with that Grizzlies pick in the back of his mind, and it convinces him to make some kind of move. Preferably one that involves Terry Rozier playing anywhere but here. I'm going to keep saying it, but as long as guys are playing like shit, Brad needs to stop worrying about spacing out minutes and making sure everyone gets theirs, and finding groups that work, and sticking with them for as long as he can. Rest should be for rest, not because it's time for another guy to get his...
64 first-half points to Memphis...impressive Memphis can park themselves at the rim and score at will
The Oklahoma kickoff returner just fair caught a kickoff at the 4 yard line. And I thought the Celtics were playing stupid.
playing Al Horford strictly at the 5, when he is a below avg defensive Center isn't doing this team any favors... it's so obvious it's laughable
So you are just looking to give up on the season? He has probably been the second best player on the team this season.
Sucks that Bird is eating up a roster spot sitting at Jaylen's mom's house. We could use some flexibility.
Just a reminder that this isn't last year's Memphis team. They have a rejuvenated Gasol and Conley, Jackson Jr. who is a ROY also-ran just because Luka has been so amazing and they are a top five defensive club in all of the NBA. Playing the Grizzlies at home is not easy for anyone. "Bad" is a loose term but I wouldn't characterize them as such. They aren't great or even consistent but neither are the Celtics. The good news is if Boston starts to shoot a bit more efficiently and force the Grizzlies to work harder down low, they can easily get back in this game.
And who should they play there? It isn't like they have any real size sitting on the bench right now.
Do we know that they aren't doing this already? I can't even tell anymore from night to night. Honestly, I just have no idea about anything with this team anymore. We don't know who is sucking because of injury or because of role switches. We don't know if Brad is having trouble coaching this group or if the results are because of injuries. We don't know if Jaylen is bad because of his role or because of his hand. Hayward, same thing. It's just such a change from last year that it's jarring as a fan to watch and try and understand.
I’m well aware of that. Hence, the question. At some point, especially if this keeps up, tough moves may need to be made to preserve value for future seasons.
Al's much better off at the 4 and so is the team. You're basically taking an All-Star caliber player and turning him into an OK center
Memphis is basically the Celtics team right now. Almost the same record. They've got ugly losses, like a home loss to the Knicks, and they've got good wins, like their one last week against the Bucks. Just totally inconsistent. Difference is, the Grizzlies were supposed to be giving us a potentially high lottery pick this year, and the Celtics were supposed to be making a run at the NBA Finals. One team is overperforming, and one team is woefully underperforming.
How can 4 Griz players be in the paint and yet no one on the Celtics be open every trip down the floor?
But without Baynes they don't have anyone to play the 5? Theis and Al together seems like a not great idea. I dunno.
Not sure I'd call Memphis a "hostile environment." My God, they are up by 19 points, and it sounds like a funeral in there.
It was an issue before TL/Baynes went down. First, they have to make the decision to start playing Al at the 4 then start playing rotations with him there.
Shut up Jackson. If they don't call you for the foul, they should have called you for 3 seconds again.
I thought Jaylen played pretty well when he got in there earlier. Of course, Brad benched him, and he hasn't been heard from since.
I feel like this is the equivalent of watching the 2011 Sox, not with the same chicken & beer vibes, but from the talent vs performance. Agreed with JCizzle above I hate being this cynical watching them...hopefully I'm laughing about this bump in the road come May.
