Between here and everywhere.
If the Flames are a bad hockey team, Buffalo might be even worse. The Providence Bruins can definitely beat them, and tonight they'll prove it.

Win it for the girls waiting for you back home, boys:

Smurf defense for the B's tonight with Warsofsky in the lineup. Up front, Cunningham was returned to Providence yesterday so Fraser will be back in the lineup.

On the Buffalo side of things, Nolan says John Scott will be a game time decision

Edit: Chad in net.

I believe it says a lot that Buffalo's captain is Steve Ott.
Meh. I think what it says is "we have no idea what the fuck we are doing" or perhaps "Ott was the easiest name to spell"

I like this tradition of starting the threads with the Ice Girls, and hope it can continue.

Of course it's nothing like the run of Bane videos we had going a few years back.

16 game threads started in a row. I'm going for 20 this time.

Julien is sick, so Chiarelli handled media availability. FWIw, he says he won't be trading Marchand.

That's a good thing - but my question is - why was it brought up? Has there been chatter that Marchand is on the block?

Yeah, it was kind of an odd statement. I know Julien and Chiarelli both spoke publicly about how Marchand's antics in Vancouver were unacceptable and that they were dealt with internally. I guess maybe that led to some baseless trade speculation, but I hadn't heard or read anything about Marchand being on the block.

I never got the logic for these.  Does that mean that the 9th girl is the first on your list, or that the first girl is #9?

They were reading veritas's post in the last gamethread.

Jesus, I didn't even have time to get excited about an awesome job opening I was told about today. Sent in my info immediately and was only slightly less immediately informed that they were not meeting with anyone else at this time.

Please beat Buffalo by a thousand goals.

HR forgot to take my commuter rail pass out of my paycheck all year, so they're taking it all out of my next paycheck.  I'm BEYOND pissed, and incredibly drunk.  Rooting for a beat down this evening.

edit: I totally should have never had the money in the first place, but still its frustrating that it took 12 months to figure that out, and that they have to take it all back at once because its the last paycheck of the year.

That was a really good first shift for marchand.  2 good pressures, and he stole one and Bergeron stole the other.  Great forecheck.

Stick to playing hockey, Fraser, you don't toally suck at it.  Fighting however...

Also, what the fuck is up with the obnoxious strobe lights on each faceoff.... man, I hate Canada

Yes, I realize Buffalo is not really Canada

For his first NHL fight, against a pretty good fighter, I don't think Fraser did that poorly. Foligno didn't really land too many good shots (even if he did throw a lot of punches).

LEAKED SCENE FROM THE NEXT EPISODE OF HBO'S 24/7: LEAFS AND RED WINGS

[Liev Schreiber:] The trials and tribulations of an NHLer is wrought with adversity on the ice, but it presents a legion of challenges in their personal lives. Long periods of time on the road away from families, waking up in a new city, a new hotel bed everyday, missing the pivotal moments in a young son or daughter's early development are just a sample of the perils of the seemingly glamorous lives of the professional hockey player.

So when the chance for reprieve presents itself, these larger than life warriors hang up their skates for but a short time and focus on being regular husbands, fathers, and humans in general with the ones they love.

For Dion Phaneuf and his wife, actress Elisha Cuthbert, even taking it slow is done differently. With Cuthbert being a recognizable Hollywood face, and Phaneuf being a modern day Neanderthal, a sub species of Homo Sapien not seen since the Ancient Pleistocene Age, there are no normal days.

Elisha Cuthbert: "I love Dion, but there are days on those long road trips where I feel so much more relaxed. I'm so busy as it is, going to auditions, meeting with my agent, it's hard to do all of that while Dion is at home. Most of my day is spent making sure he doesn't accidentally eat our dog, Pearl. He's always chasing her with a club," [a smile offering genuine affection and admiration for her husband crawls onto her face.]

"I don't even know where he found that club, but I like that he's finally learning how to use tools"

Dion Phaneuf: "I eat dog"
