The play the Cs ran was great and just missed the layup.

Kyrie screwed up at both ends with the missed bunny and the bad D. Time for him to hit the game winner

Somebody has to run out and make Oladipo pass that ball. You know he's the one that's looking to shoot it.

Oladipo is a great player, but he made a critical mistake that he’ll be replaying all night as he tries to sleep.. Leaving Brad 3 seconds to draw up a play.

They got what they wanted, Scal? What the fuck are you talking about? A cross court pass over the defense to Tatum was what they wanted?

How is that a great play, Scal. Just in bound the ball to Kyrie and have him drive for the game winner. Plenty of time to get something good without having to throw a lob above an entire defense.

Hayward I’m sure is a good inbounder but having someone sit that long down the stretch then come in for that kind of play always seems foolish.

Even worse. If that's the case, you have to run a play that guarantees you can get the ball in. Not that fucking mess.

It should have iced the game. Two monster 3s and then blows a shot he could make in his sleep. That’s the way it goes sometimes.

They had Tatum (I think) for an over the top pass that would have at minimum gotten him a good mid range shot. Kyrie didn’t seem open unfortunately, impossible to know what the first option was.

Pass was clearly underthrown. That’s on Hayward but like I said not easy to have touch on that pass when you’ve been sitting all of crunch time.

At the end of the day they scored 101 points and shot 9 free throws. For a team with so many offensive weapons that’s a joke. They were looking better every game but tonight was a backslide.

Terrible loss. The miss at the rim, letting Oladipo hit a three and GH throwing that pass. Glad it is only November

I think Scal is at least partially right. I don’t know if Tatum was option 1 or not, but they run those kind of clear out, pass over the top inbounds plays all the time. I really think that was one of the main options, not a panic move.

Teams around the NBA are firing up 3's at astronomical rates, but one of the only teams in the NBA struggling to get 15 free throw attempts a night is the Celtics. Going into tonight, the C's were 26th out of 30 teams with 21.1/FTA per game. And if I'm not mistaken, that average is really bolstered by a couple of games, but more often than not, the C's are shooting like 14 or 15, etc.

Ironically, the team averaging the least amount of free throws going into tonight was Indiana, with 19.0. I know folks want to blame the 3 pointer, but Indiana is also on of only four teams averaging less than 25 3 point attempts per game.

Meanwhile, every team that shoots more 3 pointers than the Celtics (Milwaukee, Houston and Atlanta) averages significantly more free throws per night than the C's.

How can we keep asking Jaylen and Tatum and Kyrie to go to the hoop when they simply never get calls when they do? They get hacked and hacked, and so does Horford for that matter, but they rarely get to the line.

I'm coming back again to Brad not working the refs, and the guys not selling the calls. We saw it all night tonight with Oladipo flailing all over the court even when nobody touched him. He had 8 free throws by himself. The C's had 9. This is something that needs to be worked on and discussed internally. Just has to be.

It's November people. Enjoy an entertaining game. None of this will matter in May, except the fact that people are getting used to each other. GH isn't going to be underthrowing that ball later in the year.

I agree with and appreciate your perspective but another C's fan friend (not on this board) is referring to them as the fourth best team in the East behind Toronto, Milwaukee and now Indiana. I don't think this person is particularly knowledgeable about NBA basketball but the reality is that with the Sox season over and the Pats marching along, fans & media alike need something new to clutch their pearls about. The Celtics are it given the expectations that were built up before the season.

Ultimately they will be fine - a loss at Indiana isn't horrible but they will likely lose other road games against weaker teams. Its not fair but until or unless they roll like the Warriors and smash everyone, they are going to be deeply disappointing to people.

TOR is a really good team with Kawhi. I'm not worried about MIL since their defensive system - protect the rim v giving up open 3P shots - plays in Cs hand. IND will be interesting to watch.

But at the end of the day, injuries will probably be the #1 factor.

If the Cs keep shooting at this level, they are probably #3. But it's hard integrating (or in this case reintegrating) players and Brad is always playing the long game. Not worried right now.

Why would anyone be worried about this team now? The only threat is Toronto and, truth be told, there’d be no shame losing to that roster with the way Kawhi is playing. Boston also plays better post ASB with Stevens, and people are still getting healthy and into the swing of things. I think Williams plays a role by season’s end, too.
