So far the Yanks have tried to gift wrap this game. Do your jobs for crying out loud.

Gee look at that. Getting someone warming up before trouble starts brewing.

Not a strike on that first pitch.

Yes Sanchez steps out. A small if petty victory.

Hey, how overblown was all that “Jeter gifted the Yankees Stanton nonsense?” Fucking guy sucks.

Pretty certain Gardner is gone, CC wants to come back but he'll be even more useless next Autumn, Robertson, who knows...in which case ...the only person under contract with the Yankees I believe who will have a WS ring is....gag me...Damon

It would be hilarious if they manage to bomb Sale and comeback here...but highly unlikely

So, if there's a comeback here, does Price start 5?

Also feel like this is a similar end to last season, should the lead hold, with the bats going a touch light, and Sabathia with a suboptimal elimination game start. It would feel worse because a round earlier, at home, and given it's Boston, but the parallels shouldn't be undersold.

Does Stanton strike out to end it or hit a two out solo homer?

Of the Yankees eight walkoff wins this season, none involved comebacks of 3+ runs to either tie or win the game, 9th inning or later. 2 was done a handful of times, that said.

Why didn’t Hechavarria tag up and go to 3rd. Thst was a huge play with Kimbrel bouncing breaking balls.

On a flyball to semi-deep left? He would have been out.

Add me to this company. Had the same question live, made no sense not to in what was sure to be a one run game, and as you mentioned, the bouncing sliders. Not only that, but given how deep the fly to left was (to the warning track!), it was really a questionable action, or lack thereof.

it reached the warning track and Hech was brought in for his I assume decent speed.

in the end Stanton blew it again, and Torres once again bounced a weak ball, will be interesting to see how his sophomore year goes, he's a stud

should be another great division battle in 2019, see you guys then

Boston was the better team. I like the energy those guys bring to every game. Yanks could learn from that.

Great season for you guys. Too bad the two 100 win teams had to meet at this juncture. You always have lots of classy posters on the forum. You'll get more starting pitching and be back next year for another dogfight.

I missed most of that game again, everything between 2-0 and the bottom of the 9th. I actually think this is the perfect result for NY in a lot of ways, especially if it ends up with Cashman upgrading Boone next year (unlikely but a man can dream). NY has been the 3rd or 4th best team all year and that's where they end up. Also this is why I have been rooting for HOU all season long, hopefully they can now do the job NY couldn't. Until then, congrats on an ongoing insanely good season to BOS fans.

Condolences to you guys, and congrats for a 100-win season. Believe me, I did not look forward at all to having to face the Yanks in the playoffs. I expect you'll be right there next year, too.

I wish you were on our side, instead of the foul-mouthed children that populate our threads. Reasonablness is out of fashion, apparently. Anyway, great year for the Yankees, and I agree that I can see them improving with smarter management and motivation. That is very scary.
