101 is nice to see.
Without Judge for the important ones, there Eck
That couldn't have gone much better. On to Boston.
And all that division nonsense is behind us. We get our shot. Now the playoffs begin.
Pride. Power. Pinstripes.
Good luck, Yankee fan sons of Sam Horn.
It's gonna be fun, although they really should reseed and let BOS play CLE while HOU and NY beat up on each other.
It's a victory. On to Boston, as Judge just said. This is what we stuck around for all summer. Very unlike 2003-04 with all the hate back then. These are two young teams on the rise with likable players. Not too many jerks. Maybe the outcome of this series will fuel a new level of dislike but I suspect we all know Houston awaits the winner. No easy path this year.
I turned off the TV and listened to Sterling for the 9th. Was Chapman back to his old self?
Eh, hard to say. He threw more fastballs but OAK wasn't exactly battling. He did hit 100 a few times and 101 once so that was nice.
Not crazy about the clubhouse celebration with the next game on Friday, but presumably it will be somewhat subdued.
7-0 at home now in the postseason the last two years.
God, the next week is going to be terrifying. But at least they made the true playoffs!
This is exactly what the Yankees cannot accept. And they won't be satisfied unless they go farther than last year. Or win it all. They have as good a shot as anyone else. It's in their hands. No excuses, either.
I want to believe, Terry. But as the local pessimist under the age of 50 I have very little faith this team can shut down the relentless Red Sox offense for five games.
It's okay to be pessimistic and it's admirable that you respect the opponent but faith is something personal. As Tug McGraw always said, "You gotta believe." If you don't, then there is no satisfaction in being a fan. I am more like you in my approach but at some point you just have to root.
Just like the season series, I think we’re going to see a lot of lopsided games.
You could be right but this year, the season series aren’t really too indicative of the what the postseason rosters will look like. All I know is that when these teams meet, throw the book out of the window. JDM and Judge might go 0-50 and Nunez and Neil Walker night have 12rbi each
How can you be a pessimist and a Yankee fan?
I was hoping that yesterday would be YED, but I also believe that this upcoming series will be good for the rivalry, no matter how things turn out.
"Gary Sanchez beat out a double play ball with a 28.1 ft/sec sprint speed. That's more than a full foot per second above MLB average (27)... and more than two full feet per second above his own season average (25.8)."
And he didn’t even hurt himself.
