    I haven't shit in about 5 hours.

I had to drop my wife off at the airport today. She's flying back to Massachusetts to be with her mom as she undergoes her breast cancer surgery.

On the way home from the airport, I came within .5 seconds of shitting my pants. I had to pull off the highway into a Sunoco, buttcheeksclenchedtight waddle to the bathroom, realize the bathroom requires a key, buttcheeksclenchedtight waddle back to the register - ask the nice young lady for a key with sweat and tears visibly streaming down my face, then buttcheeksclenchedtight SPRINT to the bathroom, barely getting my pants and underwear down before exploding into the toilet.

All this is still better than being an Oilers fan, though.

Too bad this is coming to an end. Sounds like a great opportunity to post some GoPro footage to SoSH. Alas, guess I'll watch the Bruins tomorrow.

You are a hero for the masses.

Also, two days without Bruins hockey is the worst idea ever invented.

While you wait for tonight if you're an Athletic subscriber there's a nice article by Fluto breaking down the goal by Pastrnak. Impressive what he can do when he's not writing about food.

Some lineup changes tonight. Second line:

    Nordstrom-Krejci-DeBrusk

Interesting they're trying DeBrusk on the right. They don't seem happy with how their other lefties have played on their off hand wing.

I can see trying DeBrusk on the right, if he's good there it solves a lot of problems. Nordstrom on the 2nd line is pretty crazy though

    Nordström as LW2 seems... insane.

Almost as insane as scratching Donato to do it.

Nordstrom’s 2 goals in 75 games should surely spark the 2nd line!

I don't have the quote handy, but basically this seems like a penalty to Donato for playing poorly. He has not been very good, and I don't disagree with benching him. I disagree with Nordstrom up there, but Donato has been bad so far.

Yeah, I don’t mind sitting Donato either. I would’ve bumped Bjork up before Nordstrom. Nordstrom in the top 6 is break glass in emergency type move to me.

It's more a "don't make that move" ever type of move. I agree on Bjork. My main point was Donato deserved it. He was very Glen Murray-esque in his floating so far. Not good.

Sounds like he's saying all the right things, similar to DeBrusk last year. Hopefully once he gets out of purgatory he shows the same improvement as DeBrusk.

I don't even hate putting a grinder on Krejci's line if the idea is to balance out the lineup. But they're not doing that at all, otherwise. And Nordstrom would definitely not be my choice over Kuraly/Wagner.

Is there any reason why they wouldn't just flip Donato for Cehlarik? Cehlarik played well in preseason, that gives him some regular season reps while also making Donato stay on the ice in Provy and work at his game. I mean, I guess he stands to learn something by watching the game from above, but Nordstrom on line 2? woof

They have historically not liked to yo-yo players. I think Donato is good enough even just as a specialist to stay up, but he really does need to improve 5v5 and there’s no reason he needs to play 82 games.

I looked a little deeper into Nordstrom today and over the past 3 years some of his micro stats are actually half decent. His overall possession numbers look bad but I think he may have had some terrible line mates in Carolina. His passing and transition numbers look better than a typical 4th liner. So maybe it’s not completely crazy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's possible someone faster than Chara should draw the McDavid assignment.

Nordstrom goal is the first Bruins goal this season without one of 63/37/88 factoring in.

I'm not sure about worst ever, but I'm not sure getting skated into should warrant going to the box for interference. McAvoy has a right to take up space, too, and he didn't really move into where the Edmonton player was going.

Nice rush by Marchand drawing the penalty and cancelling out the Oilers PP.

Why no penalty shot on that Marchand breakaway? I mean, guy is on a clear breakaway, 10 feet in front of the goalie, and gets slashed. They call the slash, but no penalty shot?

Marchand still got a decent shot off, I think to get a penalty shot, the play has to wipe out any chance of the player getting a shot on goal at all.

This is to confirm my understanding of why the Wagner hit was good, while Wilson's(that got him the suspension) was not:
    1) The approach was from the front, not the rear.
    2) The near shoulder and body (and not the head) was the point of contact, and the Wagner did not jump or raise his elbow to make contact.
    3) The intent was not to speed up to hit, but rather maintain momentum and use good body position on an opponent in an off-balance position. The result of the hit was more of good contact on someone off-balance than bad contact on someone vulnerable.

    That correct?

2 things I liked from DeBrusk in that sequence:

The kick to steal the puck.
Moving the puck closer to his body and intentionally making a shot with a really close line to his body to get the shot angle as clear of the defender's stick as possible.

All total reactions. That shows practice.
