No. But anything productive from him would be positive.

Fuck. Get Kahnle up at least. Better to have him and not need him etc.

Castro stepped back and avoided the in-between hop. Nice to have two shortstops in the middle infield.

Austin Jackson, former Yankee, could be the final out. Chapman up to 31 pitches. No. 32 does it. Strike 3!

Yankees not only took Joe off the hook, they made him look like a manager whose team fights for him.

Good for Girardi. And Judge gets a shot at redemption.

Frazier was pointing after the final pitch, presumably telling Sanchez to keep the baseball.

How could anyone hate Brett Gardner. Classy post-game interview, starts out by praising Indians.

Sanchez was awesome defensively in those last three really well pitched games, I don't remember a single thing getting by him.

Gardner had so many big hits throughout the season. I remember that HR to beat the Cubs. A professional.

A-Rod earned $21M in salary this year from the Yankees and now he is making it count on the FS1 post-game show. He just put Didi in the HOF, says Didi is incredibly strong, speaks five languages, good with computers. And he is the Yanks' best player, which is true.

Abbey has a picture of Didi hanging in his TV room.

Uhh, don't know if you were watching the same game and at bat I was, I saw a LOT of foul!

Seriously though guys, fantastic play and series, impressed by this squad and what it has in both the present and future. Enviable to say the least, hope you can enjoy this crazy train. Really get a 1996 kind of feel from this 25.

...I have to be one of the few on the page's collective who genuinely really likes Gardner's game, always have. Thorn in the side to face, sure, but that's not a title given to a mediocre player.

I don't know what to say about this thread. I felt that I needed to stay in the other because I was there when the good stuff started happening, but I felt sort of alone. I dig the mojo, but also, it's kind of a shame.

Remember in 2009 when Papelbon would just knock the bat out of Gardner's hands? I think Brett beat him once with an infield hit. Never saw him becoming a guy who could hit 21 homers in a season.
Pedey was a much better player but Gardner grinds ABs the way Pedroia does.

So can we talk about the Kahnle and Robertson trade? Jesus did Cashman know what this team needed.

Does ARod get a playoff share? Also, apparently Pineda is still with the team and is celebrating in the locker room. That's pretty cool.

As long as we talk about the Didi trade too :)

Cashman does not get enough credit.

And Frazier. Headley has an unreliable throwing technique from third. Headley volunteered to move over to first base after Frazier arrived. The two vets made NY a better team. Robertson gave them an Andrew Miller-like weapon. In fact, Robertson neutralized Miller tonight, even got one more out, 7-6.
    Kahnle is insurance for Betances.

When all was said and done, Girardi's knuckleheaded incompetence was a trial by fire that steeled this young bunch and has made them even better.

While I hope that is true, I'm just glad a) it didn't cost them a spot in the ALCS, and b) it's a mistake I'm not worried Girardi will make again.

Elias notes that Cleveland is the first 100-win team to blow a 2-game lead in a divisional series since the 2001 Athletics (also to Yankees).

There will be no backup thread for the ALCS. Good idea for the DS but it was hard to follow and we need everyone focused on just one thing for the next 10 days. Not sure what that one thing is. Maybe Coup knows.

Coup, it's your game tonight. Keep up the good work.

Jon Abbey, I looked it up. Karma does not carry over from one series to the next. Otherwise, Aaron Judge would be in big trouble.
