Tatum bailed out Morris in a big way.
Needed that one.
Gritty gutsy win, oh yeah!
That slip'n'slide play by Kyrie is one of my new favourite things ever.
And fortunately for Foster, the Celtics did him the favor of winning by enough that there isn’t a last two minute report...
Gritty win on the tail end of a b2b on the road. Third game in four nights too so I get that the Cs legs were less than fresh.
Tatum was real solid overall.
This is a fucking great win. Yeah it’s the Hawks but second night of a home-road B2B and they played the last 18 minutes or so with serious energy and purpose. That was more like last season.
Give up 67 in the 1st half, 38 in the 2nd. Weird team.
That Kyrie move was part Barry Sanders part Bob Cousey
I'd just like to see Brad adjust with the fresh guys earlier. Everyone here could see in the first 3 minutes that the starters weren't ready to play.
This was more like it. Tatum, Brown, and Rozier doing what they did in the playoffs last year. Baynes backstopping the defense. AL making timely plays at both ends. Kyrie closing.
I’ve been on vacation since Wednesday and have been drunk to some degree since then so this one is on me.
with the Celtics covering, Scott Foster is seen sprinting to the ATM
After Smart got tossed, they kicked it into another gear. I think the spirit of this guy was powering the team:
The last year lineup of Tatum, Brown, Semi, Baynes, and Rozier was really solid. That unit played some turned up defense.
Jaylen looked pretty solid after a rough start. Pretty excited about him joining the party.
Smart has to be looking at a significant unpaid vacation here.
Also sweet is a Sixers loss, C’s now up a game.
30+ minutes of that unit on back-to-backs please...
Brad take note
You mean they "picked up" a game. Because they are not up a game on Philly.
If anything, it keeps us solidly ahead in Anthony Davis sweepstakes.
Haven't read the thread. Had to pick up my daughter at a birthday party, so just had to watch the 4th quarter on DVR. Very nice to pull out a win, and great to see the 2nd unit do the damage they did. They completely turned the game around.
That said, I've learned that this C's team is the worst collection of finishers around the basket that I can remember (obviously, excluding Kyrie). A lot of that is the number of times guys like Tatum and Jaylen go to the hoop and get hacked, but my God, Al can't jump, they literally can't tip a ball in to save their life, and Morris gets blocked regularly. I don't even need to talk about Terry's finishing skills, and Gordon's lack of explosiveness.
They won this one with straight up effort tonight though, and that's really, really nice to see. Onward and upward.
I need to see a replay of that, because I thought the reason Kyrie "slipped" was because Bembry put 2 hands right in his back and pushed him, and the refs didn't call it. Bembry did the same thing to another Celtic after a loose ball a couple minutes later and got away with it then too. That guy seems like a piece of shit, so maybe Marcus had a real reason for going after him.
Turned the game on 45 seconds before the Smart ejection. Given that, most predictable win of the year. One thing we can’t argue - this team certainly has the ability to turn it on.
Consistently is still in the works...
Great game. Give the Hawks credit for battling like they did. Here’s the shot I took of Marcus before he got ejected.
When Kyrie slipped and maintained control of the ball I turned to the people next to me and said, “Kyrie is the best ballhandler I have ever seen.”
Tough game. Glad they ended up with the W. Maybe they can start beating bad teams consistently.
And I can't figure out if TRoz just played the worst good game I've ever seen or the best bad game . . . .
