I'm trying to figure out lines. I've got

Hayes-Bergeron-Marchand
Eriksson-Spooner-Connolly
Ferraro-Beleskey-Vatrano
Rinaldo-Kemppainen-Talbot

But the changes haven't been clean, and I could be confusing lines that are partially on/off.

Loui is the best Bruin around the net since... a long time. I really think his game is going to age well and I'll be kinda sad if he doesn't stay.

We've had a stanchion that centers the puck to the offense on every clearing attempt up the glass too. They've never fixed it in ten years. But ours is in a municipal rink/pool complex in Flushing, Queens. I've seen two B's DMen think better of wiring it around the glass. Bet they fix it on the break before it's the Flyers defensive end.

Uhhhh, was that Kevan who just made a pretty nice defensive play to save Krug's bacon?

Maybe he took my Facebook post asking him to retire to heart.

Chara is a fucking corpse, maybe playing him 800 minutes a game the first half of the season is a bad idea.
They have no other choice.

They just aren't very good. The D is a fatal flaw. The run they went on in December was mostly Rask getting white hot and posting a .950 for a month. Masked the real problems. Possession is mediocre and they give up far too many scoring chances and high danger shots.

I think the Bruins best bet is to sell right now and build for the future. Chara if he is willing to waive his no trade clause would be a huge value to some team competing for a cup. Eriksson should fetch a 1st or second rounder too. Might as well see if there is any interest in some of the other older guys too.

Wonder if they'll have the balls to raise ticket prices again after missing the playoffs for the second year in a row

Agreed. They aren't very good. D is killing them, K. Miller and Trotman should be in the AHL.

I forget who the Flyer was that beat him to wipe out the icing in the third period, but Chara had a pretty big head start but looked SO SLOW. He got skated past like he was standing still.

Chara was -3 last night. Ugh. Seids actually ended up at +1.
These are must win games, and the team just isn't giving it all for 60 minutes (or it just isn't talented enough).

Same thing happened on the goal that tied it. Trotman could have played it better, but what started as a 2 on 2 developed very quickly into a 2 on 1 when Chara started skating in the molasses that Simmonds apparently left behind.

Also, teds, I definitely think it is more that they aren't talented enough not that they aren't trying hard. I know I only get to watch on TV, but I don't get the feeling that any of the guys are just going through the motions, they just aren't good enough to keep up for 60 minutes without making backbreaking mistakes, whether they be physical, mental, or Kevan Miller.

The whole "need to try harder" thing is right there with "grit and compete level" for shit that hockey people say that means very little... its absolutely a talent issue. With Krejci out, the Bruins are icing a weak third line which is allowing teams to play better matchups against the Bergeron and Spooner lines. Vatrano and Ferraro were great stories that came in like gangbusters but they haven't been able to do anything lately (and not for lack of effort, Vatrano's been flying around but he's been stifled). Connolly's been snakebit forever, he's had plenty of chances but has been lacking the finish. Its really hard to gripe about the fourth line, because, well, its a fourth line and Talbot was getting some love in this very thread - not lack of effort - but if you're relying on Max Talbot to be the one who is going to put your team over the top, ehhhhh.

tl;dr the Bruins are icing two "fourth lines" and its killing them.

I guess we shouldn't be debating this in a game thread, but...
I still think it's more than "lack of talent". Sure, the 3-4 lines aren't anything to write home about, but if you stack the B's roster up against, say, the Panthers or Red Wings (the top 2 teams in the division), I don't think anyone can say that one of those rosters stands out. The team right now is playing like they did down the stretch last year. This team can play really well for 30-45 minutes, but they just can't seem to do so for 60 minutes. Whether that's effort, conditioning, bad luck, talent, no Krejci - whatever, the team is in a funk and they need to snap out of it to make a playoff run.
