Wow, what an exclamation point to the series. I remember on Monday mlb.com touting this as a “world series preview”. Sure, I’ll take that.

If an otherwise eligible player is on the DL at the end of the season, I think Phillips could replace him.

If they want him, my guess is there will be an opportunity to add him.

Amazing game. Got to watch it with a bunch of my Braves fan coworkers in person, on an afternoon paid for by our company. All of the people I went with were smart enough to know to never do the chop.

They even discussed that on MLBN (the national guys, not Boston) and they agreed the Sunday night come from behind the Yankees to sweep them was it. However, they called it the Braves' worst game of the year. Think I'd agree.

Drinking some zero now. Has a zero ever hit a game winning HR? Anywhere?

    Three zeros.

Oddibe McDowell did it in the bottom of the 12th, for Texas in 1987.

Kerri Robinson did it in the bottom of the 9th for St. Louis in 2003.

Franklin Stubbs did with a grandslam in the bottom of the 10th for Milwaukee in 2003.

He would need to replace a player on the 60-day DL whose current term on that DL was 60 days or more. (See http://m.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/postseason-eligibility.) Right now, Hernandez, Maddox, and Smith would qualify. (And Pedroia would as well by the time the ALDS started.) But if they want him on a playoff series roster, they can do so.

I'm not sure what all of you were expecting with a spring training lineup. This team went 22-9 in spring training.

That was 28-3 worthy, right there. At least this wasn't the year the Braves were supposed to be contending, and they should have a better bullpen - and hopefully a better manager - when they are more capable of going deep into the playoffs than they will/would be this year. Still...ugh.

That's what the Yankee fans are preaching on their threads here (that it's really going to happen in 2019 and beyond). And a Sox fan's answer to that is that there are no guarantees on futures.

My guess is that won't be the last time we'll see Phillips in the MLB taking an at bat, but if it were that would be a pretty great last MLB at bat to have on your resume.

Of course, when it comes to greatest last MLB ABs of all time I'm not sure that any Red Sox can ever top Bobby Kielty. Even Ted Williams. But, dang, that may be third place.

Winding up the day and I see this? Wow!

For all of his showboating, wasn't WMH's jack just a really, really long fly out? I think it happened twice, actually.

    Either way, Phillips wins.

I was ripping along the highway when he hit it. As Brandoncame to the plate I just thought that it was shitty JDM wasn’t given a shot.

Then I was content with the hard fought game.

    The he hit the homer.

It's a crazy game. I was wondering why he wasn't brought up in August, then I wrote him off as a lost cause, then BOOM!
