The Red Sox have returned to their winning ways, and the lineup will get a boost from the addition of a 0.400 hitter at the bottom of it. Just don't slide headfirst on your doubles this time Rick, and pitch a decent game while you are at it. I fell confident we won't fail in this baseball contest.

The ATL fans near me at the SB were much douchier than Seattle fans (who were actually pretty cool) and even Giants fans at earlier games. I heard "ATL" more than I would have liked to hear it in a lifetime.

So no mercy on those fans or that city. Win today, then bring out the brooms.

Oh, and Rick Porcello, time to start pitching again like a viable Number 3 starter. October is right around the corner.

I think EdRod is the "number 3"... but it'd be nice, defintely, if Porcello doesn't agree with me and pitches like he is instead.

Realistically the Sox will be lucky to win one of the games left against Atlanta and Cleveland.

I haven't noticed when you started this, but I guess it's "working?"
Anyway, nobody should miss the poignant jonabbey entry in the Yankees gamethread.
    Geaux, Sox!!!!!!!!

I live in Nashville, and am travelling to Atlanta WAY early tomorrow morning. Haven't seen the Sox live this year, and can't wait! 2 sections from the dugout in the 2nd row....

Any ideas who is pitching? Cuevas for a spot start? Velazquez?
    Hope not Pom....
    Wright as an opener?
How about a silly, wild-assed hope and prayer for Sale to be activated as an opener?

    Anything anyone has heard?
    Appreciate any other thoughts.

Porcello tonight. Didn’t Rodriguez pitch Friday? That’d put him on schedule for Wednesday.

    He pitched on Saturday.

    Friday was Eovaldi, and Pom.

    I'm going tonight (sec 135)

Bobbleheads for the 1st 20,000 fans. What time do I need to get there to get a bobblehead?

I'll be there too, first game at this stadium (sec 327...I love being pretty high up behind home plate in ballparks).

Looking forward to watching Porcello's elite talents on display tonight, hope he pitches well too.

Yesterday the stadium didn't fill up to that level until about 20 minutes before game time. I would say plan on arriving at the gate 30 minutes prior to the game to have a good chance. Add 15 minutes to get from the parking spot to the gate, and don't forget to add in ample time for the traffic.

This Sean Newcomb fellow is from Brockton and Middleboro, so let's appeal to his Red Sox roots by teeing off on him.

Brandon Phillips has been called up and Devers is back from his rehab stint.

Phillips is going to wear #0.

Another guy to put in the magic number thread when it reaches 0 (Robert Parish, 00). There is one other Boston 0 or 00, I forget.

Poignant; yeah, that's one way to describe it.

Very similar to the British Airborne's mindset at Arnhem in the Fall of 1944.

Does anyone think Braves fans know how stupid they look doing the "chop" on TV?

Nope. They're apparently too stupid to recognize stupid.

Here's to the Sox pitching staff shutting down these stupid people, who embarrass their not-stupid players, on behalf of the not-stupid players, who will thank the Red Sox pitching staff for making their stupid fans not looks so stupid.

I just noticed that the Rockies are 137 games into the season, have a -14 run differential, and are in first place in the NLW. What?

edit: in run differential they are 140 behind second-place-in-the-division LA.

    That’s pretty slick.

Edit, however, need to get a 20 between the 4 and the 1 to prevent any Y3K problems down the road. :eyeroll:

Would like to see good Porcello show up again. Don't give the fans the chance to do the tomahawk chop because it's stupid and ignorant.
