Per the NY Daily News, Joba's not going to join the Yankees in Tampa Bay, he's headed home.
QUOTE The Yankees likely will be without Joba Chamberlain on Monday night in Tampa Bay, as the reliever left the team on Sunday night to tend to his ailing father. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball...ollapses-2.html This post has been edited by StuckOnYouk: Apr 14 2008, 01:56 AM |

His father was striken by polio when he was young. Apparently he's been in declining health the past few years.

no thoughts
no prayers I do hope he recovers though... I really like making fun of him. I am also still wondering if he has found an investor for the Jump To Conclusions Mat yet. -------------------- "There were never any good old days; they are today, they are tomorrow; it's a stupid thing we say; cursing tomorrow with sorrow, Hey!" - Gogol Bordello

I hope he lives for another 20 years, because as bad as the Joba knob-gobbling is now, holy fatman-on-wheels it will be deafening if the old man kicks (or, in this case, rolls over) the bucket.

OK, I'll be the asshole....does this remind anyone of when, IIRC, Cory Lidle was put on bereavement leave which allowed the Yanks to call up a player they needed for a few days without having to send someone down? Well, with Jeter and/or Posada maybe needing a few more days to be ready to play, wouldn't such a scenario be very convenient to the Yankees this time too?
Seriously, I hope Harlan recovers. Losing a parent isn't something I wish on anyone, not even a bitter enemy. |

QUOTE Quick update Just a quick FYI--not sure what the situation is with Harlan Chamberlain. I spoke with people at all four hospitals in Lincoln, and none of them have any record of his having been admitted. I don't want to speculate, but it would seem he would be at one of those if in the hospital. Wouldn't that be private information anyway? http://blogs.trb.com/sports/baseball/yankees/blog/ -------------------- “A team's ability to execute the “fundamentals” is inversely correlated to the time spent discussing the importance of executing them.” - Rany Jazayerli

QUOTE(doc @ Apr 14 2008, 12:42 PM) Yeah I know about HIPAA, but this is from the ACLU's website: When My Loved One is a Patient at a Medical Facility ? Q: Can I find out if my loved one is a patient at a particular hospital? A: Generally, yes. Under the HIPAA Privacy Rule, if you ask for a loved one by name, a hospital or medical facility can usually tell you if he or she is a patient at its facility.[iii] There are instances, however, when a hospital or medical facility will not be able to tell you if your loved one is a patient at its facility, such as when your loved one instructs the hospital not to disclose any information about him or her, or when the hospital maintains a policy of not revealing any patient information, unless otherwise directed by the patient. (Such a policy is not required under the Privacy Rule, but has been adopted by some hospitals.) I've called hospitals here in Florida about people who are not even my loved ones and been told whether or not they have been admitted. This post has been edited by jcd0805: Apr 14 2008, 02:34 PM |
