Once the Sox are out, this is THE playoffs for me. I'll be rooting hard for Houston.

This should be an excellent series. And this year I get to watch it.

I know a lot of people like the Cards for whatever reason, but I can't stand this team. LaRussa is a pompous ass. His complaints about the hotel situation in Boston last year were a complete joke. And he defines over-managing. Edmonds is a phony. Then you have guys like Eckstein, Tavarez, Reyes.

So I will be rooting hard for Houston (yes, despite TCM). They're probably the team I like the best of the four remaining. The Cards are beatable, but will take a tremendous effort by the Stros. I see this going the distance with Houston eeking out the win. Either way this should be an epic series. I'll be keeping a closer eye on this one than the ALCS.

Logic dictates that the Cards should win, but I'll be pulling for the Stros. It would be great to see two great players (and persons) like Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio finally get a shot at the ring.

That was a bomb by Sanders. He is on a ridiculous run right now.

I hate this two games at the same time BS. What a joke.

I was about to post how much I hate the "bunt the guy from first to second when there's a runner on third" crap that NL pitchers always do when they turned it into a suicide squeeze. Nicely done.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Jim Edmonds is the Derek Jeter of the NL. Excellent player, but he makes good plays look over-dramatic. And they both have that inside-out swing (that doesn't bother me that much).

And Tony LaRussa is just annoying.

Astros can't seem to buy a hit with RISP tonight. First, Berkman hits into a DP with the bases loaded and now they fail to score when runners on the corners and one out.

Izzy was shaking again but the Cards hang on for the 5-3 win.

There was? smile.gif

Astros had to win last night - I can't see them winning all three at home this season. Oswalt sacked up big time.

And I have no clue what happened to Sanders on that flyball, he looked like a WR who had run the wrong pattern.

It looked like his ankle just decided to go out from underneath him. Pretty bizarre.

Bad news for the Cards on that Sanders play. He's been huge this post-season. They said he hurt his back, but he hit the back of his head pretty damn hard on the dirt. That looked painful.

Agree about Oswalt. He looked like he was on a mission to make up for last year's NLCS, and he certainly succeeded last night. Outstanding pitching by him. And of course Lidge was sick as usual.

I've already said this, but I like the Astros to edge out this series. I think they're a slightly better team than last year's that almost knocked off the Cards, and they're built better for the playoffs.

Hey guys I am tuning in late today. Is Rocket dealing?
And anyone know what the heck is with Morris' Grizzly Adams look?
A superstition? Like not shaving until they win it all? or until they lose, like Ozzie's showering habits?!

Yes, Rocket is dealing. He's allowed one baserunner so far. What he has done this year has been nothing short of incredible.

On another note, you've gotta love how the Astros have the roof of Minute Maid Park closed, even though the weather is perfectly fine outside. . . laugh.gif

Good stuff. 3-2 lead for the Astros now. If they can hold this til the 8th, they've got Lidge/Wheeler/Qualls.

laugh.gif Ehh, they were just being a little prophetic, that's all.

Wow. Nunez looks like he is in a world of pain right now. Bad luck for the Cardinals. . . if this gets any worse, they may have to start making pitchers play the field on their off days.

The idea of the Astros using Wheeler/Qualls/Lidge makes me wish the Red Sox had a reliable reliever, never mind three.
