Championship Weekend: Chiefs @ Ravens, Lions @ 49ers

That was a little different though. It wasn't a lot of yards but since it was the end of the half inside the 5, you lose the advantage of really bad field position for your opponent if you don't get it. So the math of going for it there is a lot less appealing than it would be during a normal...

Championship Weekend: Chiefs @ Ravens, Lions @ 49ers

I'd prob defend kicking the FG more if Detroit had a a reliable kicker, but they've had issues all year there. The FG wasn't free, it was 46 yards. So I was okay going for it....of course it looks bad when it doesn't work. If the kicker misses it, everyone is going to do the MMQB thing...

    Divisional Round Weekend

Nice....yeah that's brutal. So many "narratives" are decided by one or two plays from that game. If Buffalo wins, it changes the entire offseason narrative for each team, and it really doesn't have anything to do with how inherently talented each QB is.

    Divisional Round Weekend

It shows how devastating it was for Buffalo not to continue to move the chains....I'm guessing BUF would have actually turned into the favorite to win the game if they got another first down since they could run it down to almost nothing if they had to settle for a FG and of course, if they...

    Divisional Round Weekend

Diggs is starting to develop a fork sticking out of his back, I was thinking to myself he probably would've caught that last year and there's no way he misses it 2 years ago....Buffalo needs to get a new #1 WR.

    Divisional Round Weekend

Yes....although despite that, they did have a chance to get it back but the defense inexplicably didn't seem to sell out for a KC run on first down. They could have gotten it back with about 50-55 seconds left which is plenty doable when you have Josh Allen and only need a FG to tie. But they...

    Divisional Round Weekend

Yep, they were playing it perfectly....they had consumed over 6 minutes prior to the 2nd and 3rd down passes. Allen had complete like 6 or 7 short passes on that drive too up to that point....Kincaid with 3 of them.

    Divisional Round Weekend

Yep, that's partly why it was infuriating to watch....it looked like they had KC's number on that final drive. Efficiently moving the chains and then they just decided to change it up with the two deeper passes. Felt like they bailed out the KC defense who couldn't really stop Allen running it...

    Divisional Round Weekend

Hated that final offensive sequence from BUF. After the 1 yard run to get to KC 26, they threw two deep balls (both incomplete) and then the missed FG. I would have liked to see some short passes to keep the chains moving or even mix in a Josh Allen run. I feel like when the chips are down...

2023 Cowboys: Kellen Moore out as OC, McCarthy stuck in 1996

Yeah I wanted a discipline guy to come in and take these guys to the next level. I don’t think Jerry was going to hire an unproven coordinator to learn on the job when he has a roster that can contend right now. My guess is what ultimately saved McCarthy’s job (I mentioned this above in a...

2023 Cowboys: Kellen Moore out as OC, McCarthy stuck in 1996

I thought there was a good chance MM would be gone after an unforgiving performance in the first round at home but him staying was always a possibility. For those not completely familiar with the Cowboys, he basically pushed all his chips into the table after last season when he forced out...

Where Do You Want Bill to End Up?

As one of the resident Dallas fans, BB ending there would be pretty fun. I don’t think he’d go there though if he knew it would suck for him. The optimistic scenario I think goes like this: BB just wants to coach at this point. Dallas is already somewhat loaded as a roster anyway. So with...

2023 Cowboys: Kellen Moore out as OC, McCarthy stuck in 1996

Yeah I think it would need to be a coach who is fine having input but not veto-power. One of the few things I do give Jerry credit for is basically ceding control of player personnel to McClay circa 2013-2014....and McClay to his credit is fine with not getting a bunch of accolades that comes...

2023 Cowboys: Kellen Moore out as OC, McCarthy stuck in 1996

My guess is they extend Dak and CeeDee...and wait for Micah after next season. They could theoretically wait until next year for CeeDee too, but they have to extend Dak now because otherwise he's a 59M hit next year. They aren't swallowing that. But I don't think they'd want to risk a holdout...

2023 Cowboys: Kellen Moore out as OC, McCarthy stuck in 1996

Yeah I'd be shocked if BB accepted a Dallas HC job, but I'd certainly embrace it if he wanted to coach for a few seasons in Dallas. Best case scenario is maybe someone like Jim Harbaugh....he would be good for the discipline side which is what this team has sorely been missing and he's the type...

2023 Cowboys: Kellen Moore out as OC, McCarthy stuck in 1996

And that's really going to be why McCarthy doesn't survive IMHO....the sell on McCarthy was he can win in the playoffs. It's been the opposite with a 1-3 record. He may have survived if the team showed up on Sunday but still lost....but the team didn't show up in a huge game. They had all the...

2023 Cowboys: Kellen Moore out as OC, McCarthy stuck in 1996

And yes, bringing back Dak requires a monster contract. But there really isn’t another good option unless you’re prepared to waste the rest of CeeDee/Micah Parsons/Trevon Diggs (woulda been nice to have him yesterday)/Bland’s prime of their careers. There hasn’t been much indication that Trey...

2023 Cowboys: Kellen Moore out as OC, McCarthy stuck in 1996

Yeah despite yesterday’s performance which was bad (garbage time stats not withstanding), I think you bring back Dak and get a real disciplinarian head coach who is going to clean up all the little things that always show their ugly face in the playoffs. QB is the most important position in the...

2023 Cowboys: Kellen Moore out as OC, McCarthy stuck in 1996

Just getting into here for the first time since yesterday….here’s my thoughts…and some of these are in response to posts above: 1. Dak Prescott hasn’t done anything to stop his critics from getting louder. The dude literally had an MVP-caliber season but we said it back in the middle of the...

    Wild Card Weekend

It’s also not colder in Buffalo this weekend than KC. It’s still cold but it won’t be 0F or in the single digits like KC. It’s a classic plains arctic intrusion.
