Gordon Hayward 2020: I'm standing here in pieces and you're having delusions of grandeur!

Well, I'm guessing that he's more likely to stay in Boston for an extra year than in Atlanta.

Gordon Hayward 2020: I'm standing here in pieces and you're having delusions of grandeur!

He's probably tradeable as an expiring now if you trade him to a lottery team. Sure, he contributes, but not enough in my opinion. But I don't see any deals out there that make sense for the Celtics. I'm not interested in Drummond or Love (whose deal goes on forever), and why would OKC unload...

Gordon Hayward 2020: I'm standing here in pieces and you're having delusions of grandeur!

The risk with Hayward is that he opts in for 20-21, not that he opts out.

Four first round picks for... Justise Winslow?? (Ainge's drafting record)

Teams would do better at drafting if they could foresee in June who would look better in January (and beyond).

Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk is another sniper who would be cheaper than some of the others, e.g. Bertans or Bjelica.

Four first round picks for... Justise Winslow?? (Ainge's drafting record)

Yes, that's right, and you could say exactly the same thing about Doubouya. And the fact is that Doumbouya is performing and Langford isn't.

Gordon Hayward 2020: I'm standing here in pieces and you're having delusions of grandeur!

I would have no problem bringing Hayward off the bench, or Brown for that matter. But the sad reality is that, except for a small handful of games, Hayward hasn't performed like a $30M player since his injury, and maybe it is time to seriously consider trading him.

In my view they need a reliable sniper off the bench, and Edwards isn't ready for that role.

Four first round picks for... Justise Winslow?? (Ainge's drafting record)

I said in my initial post that the sample size is still very small. Doumbouya could be a bust and Langford could be a star. It's too early too tell, but I did say which way the trend seems to be going. We are playing "what if", that's all. And if folks continue to maintain that Olynyk was a...

Four first round picks for... Justise Winslow?? (Ainge's drafting record)

I don't. That's why GM's get the big bucks: to identify talent. And when you have a chance at a major talent and instead select a minor one, well, that's what mediocre organizations do. Any dumbell can select the player that 90% of the draft websites think he ought to select.

Four first round picks for... Justise Winslow?? (Ainge's drafting record)

Doumbouya becomes a star and Langford becomes a decent NBA rotation player who is better than some of the guys drafted ahead of him. Is that "success?" We've seen this movie before. Yes, it's a miniscule sample size but the size of the sample will be increasing, so we'll see what happens.

Four first round picks for... Justise Winslow?? (Ainge's drafting record)

Well, at the moment Doumbouya is looking alot more like Pacal Siakam than Langford is looking like Donovan Mitchell.

If you want a defensive bulldog, I'd prefer Jevon Carter to Chris Dunn at around 1/4th of the cost, plus not having to worry about Duun's 7M qualifying offer next year.

Four first round picks for... Justise Winslow?? (Ainge's drafting record)

It's too early to tell if you can put the failure to take Dounbouya on the list of Ainge's drafting mistakes, but it's starting to trend in that direction.

    Mr. Chemistry

Kyrie goes 6-21 in a loss and then says "we need more pieces," clearly implying that some of his teammates aren't good enough. Kemba has a bad game in a loss and apologizes to his teammates for letting them down.

    Grant “Corner Office” Williams

As has been discussed here, strength is Williams' elite physical tool. Taller players can shoot over him, but they should not be able to back him down.

    Red Claws Game Thread (2019-20)

Waters was ready to play in the NBA months ago. But Wanamaker was ready too. So what do you do? The sensible answer is to let the kid work on his game in Maine unless Wanamaker shows he can't do the job. But Wanamaker has shown that he can, in fact, do the job. Plus the Celtics now own the...

I'd rather see Waters playing big minutes in Maine. Those minutes will benefit him more than playing garbage time in Boston. Same for Edwards. I also think Waters is the better prospect-- I love his game-- but he's got some developing to do on defense, particularly pick and roll defense.
