2024 Mock Drafts are more fun than this boring, awful Patriots Team

Dropped back from 34 because the best OT left was Paul and it seems like reaching there. (No idea if it really is though.) Wanted a second OT but it didn't work out. Was hoping for TE Stover or RB Laube at 137 but they both got scooped just ahead of the pick. Tough choice at 180 between LB...

    One Draft Hot-Take

I could see this happening. I frequently do mocks where it's impossible not to take the defensive player that slipped from an expected mid-first out to 34. Also, I could see one of the high end OC making sense at 34.

    Three day out check-in

    1. Who do you want the Pats to take at 3 (first choice)? Maye 2. Who do you want to take at 3 (second choice)? Daniels 3. Who do you expect them to take at 3? Maye 4. How do you feel about what they actually did? Daniels or Maye, I'm fine. A tradeback for a haul (starting with three #1's) I'm...

    The Krafts

Kraft repeatedly said Ridley's decision wasn't about money, blaming it on Ridley's girlfriend and suggesting that the Pats would have gone higher but it wouldn't have mattered. Wolf just said the reason was "another team offered more money."...

    Rank the WRs

Love this thread. Would love to see the same thoughts on OT. This really surprises me. Only because PFN has him going in the 7th (or undrafted) while Corley is expected to go in the somewhere between the 2nd and early 3rd.

    The Krafts

Seems at least mildly amusing that Wolf has directly contradicted Kraft's stated reasons that losing out on Ridley wasn't about the money.

What do you want Pats to do with #3?

I've seen on another board (which I give far less credence to than this board) lots of people who think Daniels will be better than Maye, so I'm guessing opinions vary even all the way up the ladder to the pro scouts. Meaning, there will probably be teams that would like a crack at Daniels at 3.

Shohei Ohtani’s attorneys accuse interpreter of ‘massive theft’ tied to alleged gambling

I guess Mizuhara is probably really that dumb, but the conspiracy nut in me just thinks this looks way too conveniently like a try hard effort to get it established that this was all Mizuhara. I mean he knew at this time that the Bookie was under investigation and that text would be...

2024 Mock Drafts are more fun than this boring, awful Patriots Team

I always find it an interesting choice when a solid defender is available at 34. Like here somehow Latu is available, and I think in that case you either have to take a player like that, or hope somebody wants to overpay to grab him. In this case, I grab Latu and that puts me in a difficult spot...

2024 Mock Drafts are more fun than this boring, awful Patriots Team

Did a mock with PFN yesterday and Daniels was available at #68. So weird that their model could ever produce that outcome, but I assume it was like a 1 in a (insert very large number) kind of thing.

Shohei Ohtani’s attorneys accuse interpreter of ‘massive theft’ tied to alleged gambling

Can you actually negotiate a guilty plea before you even get charged?

    Let's Kut to the Chase

TV broadcast said he turned his ankle a bit. Didn't seem too bad but I guess you never know.

PFN has a pretty good interface for trade ups. My problem with it is that I don't know the charts so I'm never sure if my offers are realistic or not. It would be really cool if one of these engines could show the chart values when reviewing a trade. (I'm guessing some pay versions might do that?)

Shohei Ohtani’s attorneys accuse interpreter of ‘massive theft’ tied to alleged gambling

It does seem to be some extra bad luck though if Ohtani is actually a completely innocent victim. Not only to get ripped off by somebody he trusts and was dependent upon, but to have the guy wiring funds from his account directly to an illegal gambling outfit that is currently under...

    Misc. Pats Offseason News

Isn't it stuff like this? View: https://twitter.com/iambrianhines/status/1772231154516595026 And then stuff like hearing about how "he acts just like one of the guys" as supposedly said by free agents during visits. I don't think any other gaffs like the "burn some cash" statement, but...

2024 Mock Drafts are more fun than this boring, awful Patriots Team

I decided to give trading back from 34 a shot and got a 2025 2nd, dropped back to 49, and a pick swap to move up slightly from 103. But then Seattle made a ridiculous offer for 49 and I had to take it. And then the board ran out about as good as it could have. I would take this result with the...

2024 Mock Drafts are more fun than this boring, awful Patriots Team

Doesn't Arizona have to worry about the Chargers jumping them from 5? I think they do, and it makes it at least plausible that they could trade up to 3 if the cost isn't crazy. The question I've been wondering about is how risky is it for the Pats to go back to 5 and risk the Cards trading out...

2024 Mock Drafts are more fun than this boring, awful Patriots Team

But the thing is if none of the good tackles are left there almost has to be some pretty good receivers left, and they need receivers. If they were set at WR I would agree.

2024 Mock Drafts are more fun than this boring, awful Patriots Team

My crack at the trade down to 5. I think it was 3 for 5 and 37. All the OT ahead of Paul were gone by 34 but there were several good WR available. Thinking about it now, I probably should have gone Paul at 34 and then WR since many good ones remained on the board. Got most of my usual binkies...
