Shohei Ohtani is an LA Dodger: 10 years/$700 million

This could be a pretty savvy move for Ohtani to maximize his lifetime earnings. How much more money will he make marketing his personal brand in the LA market if he's part of a perennial behemoth rather than just a very good to great team. World Series wins aren't bankable (see other thread)...

Let's enjoy memories of the Red Sox of the past 20 years! What were your favorites (team/player/moment/etc)?

My favorite years, in order: 2004 - speaks for itself 2013 - pure unexpected bliss 2018 - domination, best team I've ever seen 2007 - one of the four but it felt like gravy 2003 - hero's journey, nothing else happens without this My favorite players Pedro - the best ever, appointment viewing...

Tim Wakefield has passed away from brain cancer at 57 (10/1 update)

I'm playing catch-up on this thread and chasing posts at this point but that look of determination on Wakes faces coupled with the *delicacy* with which he is holding the ball tells the entire story. He toiled to deliver art

Terrible news about Wake. One of my favorite Sox, I'm hoping for the best for him and his wife. And Wake was a revelation in 1995. When he was on his run, I remember there was some chatter he might run the Cy Young before he faded down the stretch.

Bummer for Burns but makes sense in a 0-0 tie where he's already pushing 110 pitches. If he was in the low 100s and his team was up 2-3 I bet he probably takes the mound in the 9th.

Pulled after 7 with the Dodgers up 10-0. Final line was 7ip 0R 1H 0BB 3k on 84 pitches. I picked him up as a streamer in fantasy today and I'm feeling pretty good about that.

And for what it's worth, he's at 60 pitches. This is a spot start for him, though, and he hasn't pitched more than 6 2/3 at any level this year.
