The Game Ball Thread: Week 12 vs the Lions

Game balls:   Edelman LaFell Brady Passing defense (Stafford completed 39%) STs OL   Great victory. This offense must be a nightmare to gameplan against.

    QB Play in Washington

Considering that I listen to The Drive on my way home regularly, allow me to weigh in. The other day Cooley said that Robert would probably ace a written test on the offense. Robert knows what to do but can't seem to apply it on the field. Robert works hard but only in areas that are already...

    NFL Week 2 Game Thread

Sproles will probably need a TD to get 11 assuming standard scoring. I'd go with Jeffery and pray his hammy holds up.

It's the NFL Week 1 Game Thread

Brady didn't play great but he was nowhere near as bad as Romo today. The entire Dallas offense is talented and Romo is sucking. If Brady was playing QB in Dallas right now they would be killing the 49ers.

It's the NFL Week 1 Game Thread

Romo has only had one pass hit the ground. 10/14 w/ 3 INTs.

Post Game Thread: Wk1 at Miami

Did Saliga play? Miami ran for almost 200 yards. Some of that was poor tackling but a lot was bad DL and LB play.

Post Game Thread: Wk1 at Miami

It looked like the gameplan on offense was to spread out the defense. Throughout the game I saw lots of empty sets with Vereen lined up wide. This tells me the team knew they needed quick throws. They knew the OL was going to be a problem. For the most part either nobody got open or Brady didn't...

    The new look OL

The young guys need to get up to speed soon.

    2014 TE/Gronk Watch

The Phins are supposed to be weakest in the middle of the field (LBs and S). Having Gronk will of course help create space for Edelman, Amendola and Vereen. The matchups dictate that Gronk should play if he's ready. BB might be pissed but he'll still want use his "Queen".

    2014 Patriots Practice Squad

Those guys are his best comparison too. Bequette is a bit bigger than them but he has the balance and agility that a 3-4 OLB needs. I still think he's a quality football player and it appears the team agrees.

    Tim Wright's Learning Curve

When people talk about an offense or offensive system or playbook they aren't really considering the big picture. Mike Sullivan has a playbook that is likely very different from Josh McDaniels' playbook. Nevertheless, within the plays in his playbook there are passing concepts. Those concepts...

    Week 1: Pats @ Dolphins

This could be a game where both QBs struggle due to question marks on the OL. As a result I think it will be lower scoring than expected. The Patriots defense is still being undersold. These guys are going to be really good. The Patriots should win 21-10 or similar.

Michael Sam rides off to Montreal

How so? If a player is claimed, he must go to the 53-man roster. All practice squad players must clear waivers at some point. Am I missing something?

    2014 TE/Gronk Watch

Stitch mentioned possible trouble learning the playbook. I thought I'd be helpful. I apologize for offending you. However I didn't "gank" your post. I hadn't even read it. You were Johnny on the spot so credit's all yours.

    2014 TE/Gronk Watch

Tim Wright was successful under OC Mike Sullivan who ran an Erhardt-Perkins based system. Sullivan was the Giants WR coach before joining the Bucs. That should speed up his learning curve.

    The new look OL

That's how I interpret the situation. Earlier this off-season it seemed like he would get a shot at OC but that idea dissolved when Stork was drafted. I think the likely explanation is that there are a lot of inexpensive, young guys they wanted to keep in addition to Kline. There is still a...

    The new look OL

This may shed some light on the question. TL;DR Josh Kline is a beast; Dan Connolly not a beast.

53-Man Roster Predictions / Cut Watch Thread

This is a pretty safe projection. I like that he keeps Halapio. Devey is theoretically more flexible between guard and tackle. However, the only good plays I've seen from him were screens. Devey has struggled blocking the run and pass. Halapio has more upside to develop at guard.   By waiving...
