    NFL: News and transactions

This is one of the easiest, if not the easiest, firings of all time. Even Spanos couldn't screw this one up, though, to be fair, he did previously screw it up by keeping Staley around as long as he did.

Who belongs in the Basketball Hall of Fame?

Draymond Green a Hall of Famer? I mean, earlier in this thread there was a post about him not even lasting in this league on a different team. That was extreme, but so is calling him a HOFer. The truth is in the middle as usual. He's a terrific defender, no doubt, but he doesn't have the all...

    Everybody Hates Draymond

I find it ironic that Jokic got ejected for cursing at an official on the same night Dramond through a haymaker at Nurkic's jaw. When Green isn't engaging in dirty play, he's constantly berating officials. Using the same standard, he would get ejected from the majority of his games.

    Everybody Hates Draymond

It takes months, if not years, for counseling to really work. See you next year at the earliest, Dramond (Silver doesn't have the stones for the rest of the year, but he should).

    Viva Lost Vegas: McDaniels fired

Regardless of the verbatim from this meeting, it's clear it wasn't a true "airing of grievances" meeting that would result in changes, as McDaniels sold it, but rather a "Go ahead and complain to my face rather than behind my back, and I'll patronize you" meeting. After all, after this meeting...

    Viva Lost Vegas: McDaniels fired

Well, the Raiders scored 24 points in the first half today, with a rookie QB (who McDaniels chose to start washed Brian, 0 for his last 17 starts , Hoyer over), a new head coach, and an offensive coordinator calling plays for the first time ever. McDaniels' offense didn't put up 20+ points in...

    Viva Lost Vegas: McDaniels fired

To the bolded, I think the bigger problem than signing Jimmy G in the first place was that he brought him back as a starter, twice, after being injured and clearly ineffective. Add to that bringing in Hoyer, who is essentially the same QB as Jimmy G, as the backup.

    Viva Lost Vegas: McDaniels fired

If thinking Jimmy G and Hoyer can run your offense in 2023 at a high level isn't arrogant, it's certainly incompetent. I believe it's both.

    Viva Lost Vegas: McDaniels fired

Yes, getting rid of Carr made perfect sense. Replacing him with Jimmy G and Hoyer did not, and that is why McDaniels is, rightfully, unemployed today.

    Viva Lost Vegas: McDaniels fired

It's quite possible, likely, even, that Stidham chose the same basic role and money in Denver as in LV because he didn't want to play for McDaniels. The bottom line is, one way or another, this is on McDaniels. If he essentially chose Hoyer over Stidham, he was wrong. If he drove Stidham away...

    Viva Lost Vegas: McDaniels fired

Agreed. And related to a lack of humility is a lack of creativity/willingness to change the "system" to match the players in the system. Josh has an offense he wants to run, personnel be damned.

    Viva Lost Vegas: McDaniels fired

I don't want to derail the thread, as there is a bigger conversation to be had here, but the very notion of a "Patriot Way" is, rightfully, under scrutiny and will continue to be until Belichick wins without Tom Brady. Until then, the term should be shelved and replaced with "The Brady Way."

    Viva Lost Vegas: McDaniels fired

How often do NFL jobs become available with a QB who can be counted on? I'm guessing inheriting Carr, for all his faults, is about as good of a QB a new coach can get.

    Viva Lost Vegas: McDaniels fired

This is spot on. You can't blame Jimmy G for their offensive woes without blaming the guy who handpicked Jimmy G. And as you correctly note, he essentially picked Hoyer over Stidham, too. Then, he drafted an injured DE, who hasn't contributed at all, with the #6 overall pick. These moves on...

    2023 NBA Playoffs

Sports Irony at its finest: the Nuggets going to their first NBA finals, and beating the Lakers to do it, on the same day Carmelo Anthony retires from the NBA.

    2023 NBA Playoffs

The first half had me worried, but the saving grace was Lebron playing the entire first half. Clearly, he blew his wad (prom night!), and his fatigue was obvious and had a huge impact on the second half. I know it's desperation time and all, but I can't believe Ham didn't give him any rest.

Trevor Story had surgery on his right UCL and is expected to miss time

Enrique Iglesias. He could be our hero, baby... Criticism of the timing/"putting this off" are unfounded. Yes, it's frustrating, and it seems like Sale TJ redux, but this situation is obviously different. And good on Kike for calling it out.

Yankees to retire Paul O’Neill’s number

This post deserves some love. Or maybe they should retire Jeffrey Maier's seat? (Well, the equivalent seat in the new stadium)

    2022 coaching carousel

I always thought Peterson was a better coach than what happened in Philly. I guess now we'll find out if he is. I like the hire, but if it was only because they found someone who'd work with/under Baalke, Khan has screwed this up yet again.
