    2023-2024 General NBA Season Thread

Yeah, the eye thing was in January, but the "illness" was just a few days ago. Seems like if he had stuck to just pulling this once, he might have gotten away with it.

Unrest in the MLBPA: Players move to oust union’s No. 2

Easy to say in a vacuum, but don't forget that minor leaguers weren't part of the MLBPA last cycle, so it's not clear that the motivations of the then-MLBPA membership aligned with your stated goals above. I'm not even sure I agree with Max Power that "the union had a chance to make substantive...

Looking for best music & communication solution for a 4 month long hike in remote areas

Yeah, think of it as a device that provides a cell phone signal without actually being a phone. Your MP3 device would connect to it as it would wifi, and it's basically a bridge that then connects to the cell tower for you. They can be as small as something you can put on your keychain, or...

Looking for best music & communication solution for a 4 month long hike in remote areas

For the music solution, I guess my first thought is to break the problem in two parts.... get your preferred music player with Wifi support, and get yourself a mobile hotspot device to provide the signal for it? That also serves the purpose of taking strain off your phone. Might not totally...

    Saban Leaving Alabama

I'm totally just a casual observer, but was my first thought too. Or Lane Kiffin <ducks>

    CFB Coaching Carousel

Echoing... first class leader of men. Just a winner all around, and does it with integrity. We hate to lose him; he's a star for sure. Enjoy your time with him.

CFB 2023 Conference Championships: A thread enjoying five major conference championship games for the last time

No, because TEX win over Bama is less impressive if Bama isn't the SEC champ.

    Realignment 2023: Whither the Pac12?

Not blaming you for not addressing this, because nobody in charge of college sports thinks about them either, but.... this seems wildly unfair to the athletes. They're asked to choose a college with no guarantee what level they'll even play at for their four year career? And if you counter that...

    Craig Breslow: Red Sox CBO

Would guess tomorrow, before the World Series embargo on announcements kicks in.

    The Rebuild

I specifically mentioned Love as an exception in the post you quoted, and then he's your first example... which suggests you didn't read my post even though you quoted it. Your post, that I was responding to and even bolded the part I was objecting to, said "hold a clipboard for a year" (my...

    The Rebuild

I'm just a casual fan, but isn't the bolded an anachronism from a bygone era? First-round QBs just don't hold the clipboard anymore, at least not when there's an immediate need at the position for the franchise (ie Jordan Love behind Rodgers isn't really analogous to the Pats situation). The...

The Red Sox have fired Chaim Bloom

People should stop saying this. Bloom's responsibilities weren't tied to the games left on the schedule. You know what the FO is doing this month? Preparing for the off-season. Evaluating potential free agents and trade targets, deciding which assets in the farm they want to build around and...

Follow along - I’m trying to qualify for the Mass Mid-Am

Bravo! Greatly enjoyed following you, thanks for sharing your run.

Follow along - I’m trying to qualify for the Mass Mid-Am

Looks like +4 is going to be the qualifying line, so the birdie on 18 ends up being just for style points. Some really nice style, at that...

Follow along - I’m trying to qualify for the Mass Mid-Am

Wow, got the birdie on 18! He's in at +2. Only 2 guys better in the clubhouse, so that looks very safe for qualifying. Congrats, "Boston Ward"!

Follow along - I’m trying to qualify for the Mass Mid-Am

Bogeyed 16, now +3/T13 (right on the qualifying line). Finding a birdie here would be huge.... Edit: Par on 17, still +3. As cshea notes, with only four scores better than +3 in the clubhouse so far, getting in with +3 would seem to be good enough.

    8/4 - Toront0-7

They're just a very RH-hitting team. They're starting LH Varsho, the only other LH they have are Belt (hot lately), Kiermaier and Cavan Biggio... none of whom generally play vs. lefties, nor really deserve to.

    Realignment 2023: Whither the Pac12?

Wouldn't that really be 4th place (with the ACC solidly in 3rd)?

    Realignment 2023: Whither the Pac12?

To the first point, they had been waiting for quite some time for the TV deal, and apparently got tired of waiting. Indeed, an absolute failure of conference leadership.
