    Marcelo Mayer, 2021 1-4

Mayer starting off as well as one could hope this season in Portland. Hits in all 6 games played. https://www.milb.com/player/marcelo-mayer-691785?stats=gamelogs-r-hitting-mlb&year=2024 8/23 on the young season, with 2/6 BB/K thus far, with a double and a homer. He’s already seen some...

    4/13/2024 - Getting Early Late

Not to steal you thunder, Anthony’s homer in the second game was a first pitch lead off job, to left field. It looks like the catcher set up middle-middle, the pitcher delivered, and the Roman delivered. View: https://twitter.com/PortlandSeaDogs/status/1779304627906687420

Roman went deep in the nightcap as well. 1/3 with a walk, the HR, a steal and 2ks Mayer DH’s and had a hit 2k’s and a steal as well. Eddinson Paulino, the other-other top 20 Sox prospect on this roster, also played in both games and went yard in both...

These little Portland twitter video promos for the pitchers are great. Helcris gets flames where Penrods little intro had some much smoke you would think he was on tour with Redman and Method Man.

I see Grissom having grounded out as the DH.

This hit right after a tough couple days. Man, Remy’s smokers cough is one I miss.

    4/5/24 - Opening Day x3

Castro’s 5 walks, at least per GameDay, were 3 7-pitch at-bats, a 6-pitch at bat and a 4 pitch at-bat. 31 total pitches. I didn’t look at how many times he swung the bat, but it doesn’t look like he just benefited from total wildness by pitchers. Castro has what looks like a bunch of...

    3/29/24 to 4/4/24 - MILB Game Thread

Guerrero is typically a bit higher on the gun, so maybe either everyone’s throwing a bit below their average velocity, or the Lehigh Balley gun is a little low?

    3/29/24 to 4/4/24 - MILB Game Thread

Gambrell is one of the non-elite guys in the system I hope to follow closely this year. I wonder if he can get beyond “a bunch of average pitches” and become an interesting bulk guy, middle bullpen arm or back-end starter. There seems to be more to like than it would have initially seemed. He’s...

https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/soxprospects-com-podcast/id309680652?i=1000650445177 The SoxProspects episode has a lot of fun stuff of impressions from ST. @JM3 Around 29 mins they get into Cespedes, and then Franklin Arias and then move to Bleis and Anthony. If you are into prospects...

    2024 Spring Training Stuff

thanks for this. I was looking at the earlier picture of all the players to see how Bleis looks next to Kristian Campbell, who is apparently 6’3”. Bleis looks of good size in comparison and more built than I recall. Really want a good season for him.

    Minor League Thread 2024

Seeing the odd way Romero had to be carried off the field last year when the back injury re-occurred was scary. I think this board or the SP board thought he had badly blown out a knee, if I recall. Will be happy to hear if he’s moving well this spring, as Mayer’s shoulder has looked in the...

Formula 1 2024: Ferrari's Return to Glory. Possibly. Ok, Unlikely.

A F1 podcast I listen to called Red Bull racing “medieval company”. The king died, and within a year, his lieutenants are knifing each other. definitely feels likes it Horner vs. Helmut Marko and Jos.

Formula 1 2024: Ferrari's Return to Glory. Possibly. Ok, Unlikely.

The Red Bull story continues to devolve. ESPN and other reporting Red Bull has suspended Horners accuser, with pay. heard a little about the texts. Thought they wouldn’t be sex pest stuff, but of course they were. Poor Ginger Spice, trotted out there at the race last week.

    Minor League Thread 2024

Catching up on this thread reminded of how much fun some of these players may be to follow this year. If Alan Castro has a nice first 2 months, he could be in Portland not to long after turning 21, and that’s really interesting. Moreso if he keeps his eye for the strike zone and finds a little...

    Red Sox acquire Tyler Heineman

Don’t think it is that binary a situation. Even if you don’t have prime pitching prospects, AAA/AA is where development continues and finishing can occur for a player now that they know what they need to work on to be useful to the ML club. The Red Sox seem to be setting up a system that...

The Incredible Hülk Returns, 2023 F1 Season

Or just general reliability. Ferrari ls always seem to break in the stupidest ways, while even in a reduced state last year, the Mercedes has always felt super reliable. I cannot see that going over well with Lewis when the power train and gearbox continually fail.

Dude, don’t put your love of Rosier all on me. I’m actually interested if he’s a version of a type of player that comes back into use by teams as the rules changes re-emphasize baserunning and putting the ball in play, or will power always be the bigger factor for OFs.

Of goddamn course it’s the team with Ricciardo and Tsunoda, the team I want to root for. Freaking marketing and finance guys, can’t stick with Torro Rosso.
