Just all around bad coaching by the KA down the stretch. The plays he chose to run out of timeouts to put players in tight situations/spaces against a team with a drastic size advantage is puzzling.

How about just get your guards at the top of the key with some space? How hard is that?

Celtics really drew a bad beat having to see Milwaukee next because this Philly team is a mixed bag of ass. The Raptors are going to pick them apart.

Agreed - as Miller pointed out, you never want to throw the ball into the corner on an inbounds. Your point about getting the guards/wings in space is a good one. The 76ers have had a tough time slowing those guys all series.

Brooklyn and the Clippers are very IT4-Crowder Celtics era teams. It's hard for those kind of teams to win down the stretch.

Season on the line, throwing it into a Jared Allen triple team probably wasn't the best idea. They have some nice pieces but really need an A-list free agent companion for Russell.

End of the day, as much Sixers schadenfreude as I have, it’s still clearly better for the Celtics if Philly is the team playing Toronto.

They really need wing help badly. Their three guards are really, really promising, and would be a shame to waste that.

Exactly. Both players deserved their ejections. If it happens near mid court it’s a different story, but if you put innocent fans at risk you face tougher consequences. Not like they will get suspended.

Btw the Celtics didn’t draw a bad beat, they got the 4th seed. If they played better in the regular season they’d face a worse team than the Bucks. So be it. Bring on the Greek Freak. Going to be a battle.

Embiid in crunch time - threw a pass to the other team, then fumbled the ball in the post, but managed to steer it to someone named Mike Scott, who hit the game winning corner three, just like they drew the play up.

Scott was a really good pitcher in the 80s. It's incredible he's found a way into the NBA 30 years later.

Simmons took Dudley into the crowd. Butler shouldn’t have been ejected. It should have been Simmons and Dudley.
Agreed. I originally thought it was Butler who pushed Dudley into crowd but was clearly Simmons. Really too bad Nets couldn’t hold on. I want more of this series but it’s almost surely over on Tuesday.

Embiid is probably annoying when he’s playing against your team but he epitomises the modern-day NBA and why it’s becoming the best sports league to watch.

The NBA is a soap opera for men. Embiid is one of the best villains. He’s awesome and the NBA is awesome. I love his shit talking. It makes the game better because the drama is 24/7. I also love his flopping (no surprise though because I love Harden). All these mofos flop.

Agreed all the way around. Aside from Wade, who is the beneficiary of being both a tremendous basketball player as well as revisionist history about his dirty tendencies, its really hard to actually "hate" any of these guys.

Embiid is funny as hell and is great for the game with all his antics imho. The NBA is funny in that it loves the drama and all the faux controversies (the Harden shimmy really triggered some people this week) and you get some of the righteous folks who are the "play the game the right way" and "old school" types taking the bait every time.

That clip above is awesome. PG13's reverse yam last night was amusing as hell. Dame vs Russ is high theater.

I mean, this is sports in 2019. Gone are the days of players pretending to be good sports in the heat of battle - they are open about it and should be. Its more honest and fun that way imho.

As Ingles vehemently argues the most standard call in the NBA after not allowing Harden room to land on his 3.

It’s like insanity from both sides.
Ingles also blatantly hit Harden's arm.

The NBA needs to examine how to curb this absurd amount of whining to officials, it's out of hand. The player disrespect for officials is a bad look all around.

Micheal Lewis did an interesting podcast on NBA refs and the replay center.

Is it really a bad look? Wasn’t it hilarious when the Steph and the Warriors jumped around pointing and laughing at the refs?

I think the NBA is a mix of the WWE and a legitimate sports league. Refs are a part of that drama IMO. The disrespect is good to watch because some of these refs deserve it. There’s no need to pretend the refs are infallible IMO.

A league with no respect for those enforcing the rules has only a short step to WWE style kayfabe.

I don't think it's as bad in the NBA as it is in global football, but it's by far the worst among American sports leagues and goes against our sporting culture. Not to mention how ugly it is. There are ways to disagree with fallible humans without showing them up and literally big-leaguing them. If the NBA went over it with players before a season, and started regularly tossing players for dissent, I'd be all for it.

The Refs are much better then they use to be and the players' behavior is much worse.

If you listen to the podcast, kids are mimicking their favorite players' antics at the local rec center.

Simple fix, the Whine Fine: if a player/coach gets in a refs face about a foul or non-foul AND the ref got it right, fine the coach/player $10,000/incident. If the ref got it wrong, the player/coach gets a pass for bitchin. Let the NBA replay center announce the Whine Fine list the day following the game. All funds in the Whine Fine fund goes to youth basketball.

Players/Coaches will think twice about complaining and working officials all game long.

I disagree with this pretty strongly. The league should do a better job policing refs but the players should not be litigating this with drama during the game.

Harden literally goes limp and just falls on the ground. That is a joke if they give anything more than a common foul.

Harden seems to have these real stinkers occasionally in the playoffs. 5 and 4 fouls on Paul and Harden, respectively. If the Rockets pull this one out, the Jazz will have missed a huge opportunity.

I would watch a loop of the previous nights whine fines for sure.

Where do I sign up?

I genuinely love this whine fine idea. Obviously it would never happen, but it would be truly amazing.
