Extremely interested to see how this is called. I think he was touched before he caught it, but not after he caught it (until he was already back on his feet, so they would have needed to tackle him to the ground), so I think it stands.

Oh, I didn't see the foot hit the shoulder. Wow, does Pitt get lucky there. It was absolutely nothing they did.

I have it as a TD

Edit: the foot, I’m a minute or so behind I guess

I don't know how you can be down by contact if you are the one that initiated the contact. Especially if you were not yet down when the contact occurred.
It was the correct ruling, based on the rule. If the contact occurs while the receiver is going to the ground, then it's down by contact.

Think about it this way, if that wasn't the rule, and a receiver caught a ball, and a defender hit him and he fell down, then the receiver wouldn't actually be down unless the defender also touched him while he was on the ground.

Oh, I know it was the letter of the law, but there have to be at least assume attempt by the D to make a tackle.

I started listening to a podcast while watching and I’m having a way better time all of a sudden

I think it would just be way too hard to write a rule that took everything like that into account. For example, you said the defender didn't initiate the contact, but is that true? The defender was running, he ran into the receiver's leg, why isn't he the one initiating the contact, versus the receiver doing it by lifting his leg? The water just gets too muddied. I think the rule which basically says if you make contact with the receiver as he's going to the ground, or while he's on the ground, he's down by contact is pretty solid and is very clear. God knows these NFL refs have trouble with the rule book already. Anything more than that would turn this into the catch rule, where nobody knows what the fuck is going on.

My God, Ben has weapons all over the goddamned field, and we have to watch Brady try to hit Chris Hogan and Philip Dorsett. WTF...

Edit: Even Fitzpatrick has Evans, Godwin, Jackson, Howard, etc....GOD DAMN IT

Says a lot about Brady, who at this point in his career, still wants to go through the daily grind to throw the ball to a bunch of stiffs.

I've been sitting here running through the rosters in my head of every NFL team, and I can't think of a single one that I wouldn't trade all of our wide receivers and running backs straight up for theirs. Not one. Maybe the Bears. That's about it though.

Not the Bills (assuming you are counting Edelman)?

Having a conversation in person with Jason Witten must be terrifying. Or hilarious.

This is the most inane conversation I think I’ve heard on air, regarding Bell. I feel like just walked into a bar in Pitt. and listened in while two drunk idiots discussed football. What happened to you MNF?

You're not going to show us the holding call that literally just changed the game? Really? Not a single replay.

Just for one day I’d like to know what’s it like to be that fast. To just turn on the jets and outrun everyone else around you and know you can.

Hadn't thought about the Bills, but yeah, that's probably the second one with the Bears. I don't think I can even name a wide receiver on the roster. Is Zay Jones still there, after his drunken shitshow last year? LeSean McCoy, when healthy, and assuming he doesn't get suspended would be a pretty damn good weapon with Tom though.

You act like they should do this. Instead, lets see guys discuss Bell's contract and hold-out!
The part that I think is funny is listening to Booger talk about how Pittsburgh should pay him, when they are getting pretty damn good production out of a guy that's costing them like 5% of what Bell is asking for. It's not like their offense has been their problem.

That’s not PI? Incidental? Yeah - replay made it look like a good no call.

I hope they let Bell walk at the end of the year. Conner is a Pittsburgh kid (from Erie, PA, went to Pitt) through and through, he's an awesome story, and he's damn good too. No reason for Pitt to pay Bell what he wants, when they can probably get 75% of the production out of Conner.

I bet Bell gets moved before then...
