Also Tom will be on GMA I believe Monday. The Strahan connection is probably the only reason he is going on this show.

Amazing episode to see how reflective he can be in light of a loss that you know absolutely kills him. When I watch these, I just continue to be amazed that the NFL chose to try to ruin this guy's reputation when it should have been doing everything it could to promote an athlete like this. Intelligent, articulate, thoughtful, legitimate family man. smh

It was never about him. It was the about the owners getting a chance to knock down Robert Kraft at the same time they got a chance to codify some labor stuff so the union would have to negotiate to get rid of it.

It worked out marvelously for them.

Deep inside Muppet Labs
It was about asserting that the Pats must've been cheating to win so much, because if they weren't how could they explain to their own frothing fanbases why they were getting their asses kicked every fucking year by the Pats?

It was flaccid dick-waving at its most basic, and no one waves their flaccid dicks around like NFL owners.

Damn the family quotes and life lesson stuff about "even if you do all the work, you don't always win"... should be the poster boy for the NFL.

edit- finally got to finish it

And those quotes at the very end end... Man... Tom gets hit the right way emotionally with his family life. I could see him hanging it up tomorrow.

That was great. Except I hated watching the Hail Mary in slow motion; it was really close to being caught by Dorset.

I agree with this 100%.

However if someone isn't a Patriots fan or, more specifically, is a Patriots hater, this whole series just reinforces what they dislike about Brady. In their minds, he is incredibly lucky landing in an organization at the right time, coming up in a system that was designed for maximum success and parlaying that into a marriage with a supermodel. Of course he comes off as polished. He has had every advantage thrown in his lap and all he had to do is show up. He literally is the epitome of what every guy who fell short of his dreams could be if only he, too, could catch all the breaks like Brady.

In any event, this series was highly enjoyable and, as a Patriots/Brady fan, it surpassed my expectations in terms of its tone, content and what it revealed about TB12. The bittersweet thing about it is that while it was a fascinating window into Brady's life, it also underscored how close he is to the end. As edmunddantes observes, based on the series, if he announced he was retiring tomorrow it wouldn't be a shock at all.

Of course, were that to happen, there are a few posters/Jimmy G stans who would lose their minds but that is for another thread.

Man...had he won the SB, this would have been a hell of a way to announce retirement.

He needs one more before quitting. Next year he's going to get it.

Now I am curious how much portuguese Tom knows. Those kids are going to have a secret language with mamae.
Part of Tom's job is setting up silent signals with his teammates without any one of 80k people like and millions more on television watching having any idea that it happened.

If he doesn't institute some version of this with his kids, then he deserves to get steamrolled at home.

He's been saying over and over he wants to keep playing, with the age of 45 being thrown out there by him several times as his last year. Even if it's "just 43", he wouldn't be quitting after next year.

No it's in interpreting the way he spoke and reflected on things. That the 45 thing might not be as a given thing as I would have thought before seeing this documentary.

I had utmost faith barring catastrophic injury, he'd do it. Now after watching this, especially the last one (though it's sprinkled throughout the episodes), you can see him really beginning to question all of it particularly in regards to the toll on family.

Edit - I'd still bet on him getting to 45 though.

He's got nothing left to prove, his legacy will improve even more after he retires.

I don't want him to go, but I understand it.

Was asked on @gmfb if #Patriots QB Tom Brady will show up for OTAs. No firm word. But my sense, talking to people close to him, is that Brady is unlikely to be there today. Perhaps he will surprise everyone and show. But a better question: Will he be there for mandatory minicamp?
I think an even BETTERER question is whether he'll start sucking on purpose just to make Belichick look bad.

Does everyone remember the controversy about Brady being unhappy when he boycotted some camp over Deion Branch's salary negotiations?

Those were the days.

At least we aren't talking about parking spots, this is true.
That's gotta be where the family narrative is coming from, yeah? OMG why is Brady not getting the uber early parking spot?? He had a kid...

Epilogue is posted on FB watch...I'll spolier it for anyone who wants to watch. Nothing earth shattering revealed in the episode
nothing earth shattering but some stuff:
He acknowledges that relationships ebb and flow
Said the past few years haven't been as fun... takes blame for some of that
Still says he wants to play till he's 45
There's more that he wants to accomplish
Likens it to a climber getting near the top and quitting

You don’t think that he built a bird feeder is earth shattering? Shit, should I have spoiler tagged that?
