So here we are yet again. Another 3-1 series lead squandered to the Original Six team with the longest Cup drought (51 and counting). I mean the "Nine-teen For-ty" Rangers have won since then. The long moribund Blackhawks have won. The Red Wings came back to life and won. The Bruins have won. And let's not even discuss the Habs. Losing is in the Leafs blood. This is what they do - they always come up short. Doug Gilmour couldn't get it done. Mats Sundin couldn't get it done. Hell Borje Salming couldn't get it done. So do we really think little shits like Nazim Kadri can get it done? Hell no. Not this time. Oh maybe one day they'll pull a 1994 Rags run or something. But not now, not on our watch and not in our house.

We all remember this.

On Wednesday, go out and protect the Civic and punch a Swede. Sorry Andreas Johnsson and sorry William Nylander (even if you were born in Calgary you still count) but you are going to be run out of the barn.

Forecheck the shit out of these guys. The last defenseman always has to think about the stretch pass. These guys are beatable. Buzz the net, there will be rebounds. Some puck luck has to fall their way. Protect the Civic. Win.

That's the way to beat that long stretch pass and they started to do it last night a little - and it worked. It isn't rocket science.

Rask needs to be on his game tonight. This team needs to support him. Clean up Andersen rebounds in front of the net.

We got this.

It would be awesome if they could finish their chances tonight. Too many posts, too many shots to the chest...bury some fucking shots. Or get some rebounds and get Anderson moving.

Or score. Just score.

Alot.

The Bruins are going to win tonight and it's not going to be a close game. Rask will be good enough.

4-0. Bergy with a hatty and Rask pitches a shutout, and Marchand finishes them off with an empty net goal banked in of Kadri's head.

Fuck all the noise, let's do this.

I'm not as confident as you guys are because hockey is a weird freaking sport and there's more luck involved than other sports (as far as I can tell). A weird bounce of the puck here or there could decide the game. So here's to hoping the Bruins dominate so much that there's no luck needed. I'd rather not get an ulcer watching the game tonight, thank you very much.

I hope it's like the Canadiens one from a few years ago, only the opposite. So in this version, the Bruins actually show up and the Leafs don't. That would be fun.

Truth. I guess I'm asking for a nice, tidy, 4-0 victory, where they get three goals in the first period and it's never close.

Too much to ask?

Of course, I've been asking for a Patriots Super Bowl victory along those same lines too........

Anyone else getting absolutely nothing done at work today? Also the next non hockey fan at work today that asks me how they're going to do tonight is getting kicked in the nuts or taco.

Is it 7:30 yet???

Have I mentioned waiting for these games is killing me? Ugh

Edit: Obviously, I decided against a medical coma and binge watching when done. But I am open to time travel considerations should that be an option. Those that have gone this route, let me know the best ways of pursuing this.

Why would you go and ruin someone's perfectly good snack or lunch like that?

Three goals in the first period is close. If you're not still butt clenching, you're not a hockey fan. Not to mention Game 7.

7 or 12 goals in the first period. Okay.

I was at that game. The Bruins sucked ass that night. I considered making the trip up from NY/NJ for the game tonight. That would have made my son very happy. But I am a selfless man, and for the good of all Bruins fans everywhere, I have kept put. You're welcome.

Wait people have actually been unclenched at any point over the last 2 weeks?

My goalscorers tonight are DeBrusk on an odd man rush, Pastrnak from the dot on the PP, Miller on a seeing eye slapper from the point that we later realize was tipped by Backes, Marchand on a breakaway, and Rick with the empty net finisher that Krejci could have scored himself but preferred to set up his linemate instead.

I just got off the phone with a recruiter from Toronto, and he was very smug and confident about this game. Now I really want the Bs to win, so that next time I talk to him I can rub it in his face.

Here is hoping for double OT.
Does anyone else remember the SCF triple OT game against the Oilers? 1990, I think. I was in grad school at the time and had rehearsal that night. So I had recorded (on VCR) the game. When I got home, I checked the live broadcast, really quickly, just enough to see the game was still going on. Then extended the recording an extra 30 minutes. Waited about 25 minutes. Same deal. Did it a third time and saw the game was STILL going. So I said “fuck the whole thing, I’m watching live.” About 5 minutes later, Petr Fucking Klima gets a shift (having been benched for the whole game). Game over.
