If Brady can't play, I don't think the difference between Hoyer and Jimmy would be enough to make a difference. I think Hoyer can beat the Jags. Unless you're insinuating about future seasons, which has been covered multiple times here for why that wasn't going to work.
This part of the site is public, right? There's your Jags bulletin board material right there.

Kidding of course, but really?

Hoyer could beat the Jaguars, I believe. Obviously FAR less of a shot than with Brady at the helm. Look at Hoyer's career game log (https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HoyeBr00/gamelog/). He's had some horrendous games and if needed on Sunday, that might end up being one of his horrendous ones. But he's also had some tremendous games. His top three games in his career have been in the last three years, including one against Jacksonville (24-36, 293 yds, 3 td, 0 int). That was a two years ago Jacksonville team, so not much relevance to THIS Jacksonville team, but still. Maybe he'd have confidence in that situation.

The formula would remain the same: run Lewis and Burkhead behind Mason, short passes to the RBs, and short crossing passes to the WRs and Gronk. Hoyer probably can do that as long as he doesn't turn it over, and as long as the defense comes to play.

Asking Hoyer to throw 45 times as they try to keep up with a Jaguars team that's scoring against the Patriots probably would be too tall an order, however.

Let's just hope BH remains comfortably behind a clipboard.

Brady presser still scheduled for today. If he speaks I would imagine we have less to worry about. Not nothing, but less.

In the unlikely event that:

Brady, Bortles, Keenum, Foles.....

became.....

Hoyer, Bortles, Keenum, Foles.....

I still like our chances. And I love me some TB12, but how awesome would THAT be? You think they hated us NOW?

i know it’s not their style in public. They are more a practical joke behind scenes, but he needs to be wheeled out there in wheelchair with IVa everywhere, full on cast, sling for his arm, orange bottle of pills he just pops every 30 seconds, and just not acknowledge it.

Tom what’s with the hand?
Hands good. I’m ready to go.

Why the get up Tom? Just a precaution.

Belichick was part of that once with Hostetler

I did not say, nor do I think, that Jimmy could have engineered those comebacks. That doesn’t change the fact that Jimmy has a much better chance against the remaining teams than Hoyer.

Brady is the GOAT. Still, Jimmy could beat two playoff teams.
I hear what you're saying. Percentages and all. Brady>Jimmy>Hoyer.

Just saying that our win expectancy drops precipitously if--God help us--they have to backfill TFB, regardless of who the backup is. And the last two Super Bowl wins are clear examples of that.

Knowing the plane evacuation procedures is great too, but it's the fucking plane crash that I'm worried about.

Not to worry. Brady's been lulling the NFL into a false sense of security all these years. He's actually left handed.

But, how did he say it? Did he sheepishly mumble it or say it with confidence? Ahhhh panic!

A hand-off attempt that lead to a cut hand which needed xrays? I'm having a little trouble picturing this in my mind's eye.
I assume Brady climbs into a bacta chamber if he cuts his nails too close.

Thornton with a bit of an update and explanation of his broken hand tweet from awhile back.

For those that don't want to click on barstool

-Thinks the *alleged* injury happened back around the Tampa game. Cites a drop off in accuracy and passing yards.
- The constant flexing and squeezing of his hand after passes. Also that he is using his forearm to get himself up off the ground.
- More missed practices than usual. And a comment to Jim Gray when asked about missed practices, "I think they have it listed as my achillies"
- He thinks the bye week obviously helped as evidenced by how good Brady was Saturday night.

In conclusion, Thornton can't say for sure if the hand was broken. He did confirm that Brady is fine and the reports saying he was checked out and is OK are accurate. I'm sure he has some sources, and pretty much everyone has said the same thing, so it's not much of stretch.

Why would they hide the hand injury and instead list it as an achilles injury but then disclose the hand injury right before the AFC title game?

How about the hand injury was the reason he missed practice yesterday, but the achilles injury was the reason for the earlier missed practices?

Dear Jerry — please STFU about this. Your heart is in the right place, but you are not adding clarity and may be laying the groundwork for mischief. The NFL guidance, which I posted in one of these two threads last night, could not be clearer. It fucking specifically mentions an injury to the throwing hand as an example.

Well Seattle and Colts penalties show that there is no penalty for messing with the injury report (including repeat offender status for multiple violations of rules)... so we should be fine.

Is Giardi suggesting he has a cast or bandage under the glove?

I have to say, I'm not seeing that. Can't wait for more forensics of stills from warm up sessions!

The base of his thumb looks very strange. But if he's at practice it's a good sign, even if he doesn't throw, considering the alternative was him not even showing up in order to get treatment.

Absolutely. I have full confidence that the coaching staff could come up with a gameplan that would play to Hoyer's strengths and put emphasis on the backs and Gronk. I think they could win this game with Hoyer throwing 15-20 passes, focusing on the backs and getting Gronk his touches. Where Brady sets himself apart is his ability to take over a game, which obviously Hoyer doesn't have. The difference is if you told me that the Patriots were down 14 in the 3rd quarter with Hoyer at QB then I'm telling you they lose, but with Brady in there I feel like they still win, but that doesn't take away from the fact that I think that Hoyer could absolutely manage the team to a win. There's enough talent on offense and within the coaching staff to make it happen.
