Not here
I need a ruling.

I've been rooting for the Dodgers to lose as long as they've got anyone left from the Punto trade on the roster. If Adrian Gonzalez is not on the playoff roster, do I have to root for them to lose just because he's on the 40 man roster.

I mean, I probably will anyway because the Astros are fun to watch, but I need to have this nailed down before Game 1.

How can you root for them to lose? The dodgers were willing to take on all those contracts. Without that we don’t win in 2013.

You should be thanking them. There are like 2 other teams who could take on that amount of salary from the Sox. (Yankees and nats?)

Nah, you don't root for them to lose. You root for the Astros to win.

I feel gratitude toward the Astros. I just hope it is a good series.

The gamethreading with the Yankees playing well has been fun, and I think I'll miss not having one more week of that before the long offseason. I don't think Dodgers Astros will produce as much intensity. But hopefully it will just be a really good series.

Once they got rid of Crawford, it was ok in my book to dial back any hate for them. Plus, a Dodgers win would be the second time that the team that jettisoned Crawford from their roster mid-season won the World Series the following year. That thought fills me with joy, plus it's hard to root against Dave Roberts (though nothing against Houston either, would be happy for them and their fans if they pull it out instead).

I voted Dodgers in 6 but it doesn't really matter to me. Let there be really good games. We are all passionate about baseball and this is it for 5 months. So do it justice and let there be some intense games.

Dave Roberts. I rest my case.

According to my guide, MLBN is showing recaps of classic World Series. 1977, 1978, 1981. All Yankee-Dodgers. Why?

Were they so sure the Yankees would win?

I just said nearly the same thing on the main board.

I said Dodgers in 6 because as much as I believe in Playoff!Verlander, that Astors pen has issues and there's only so much you can piece together with starters and prayer (unless Altuve hits 9 grand slams of course)

I'm just hoping that someone reanimates Reddick's corpse in time.

Question: Root against the Dodgers because of Justin Turner’s beard or against the Astros because of Darryl Keuchel’s? In the NLCS I rooted against the Cubs—you know, because of Pedro Strop and his cap.

My solution: Root * FOR * Dave Roberts, man among men, hero for the ages. I mean, remember the way he leapt up after scoring the tying run in Game 4? How can you not want the best for that guy, like, for all time?

You base your rooting preferences on beards?

My logic works like this: I always root against the Yankees. If the Yankees aren't involved, I root against whichever team most recently beat the Red Sox in the postseason. If neither team have ever beaten the Sox, it's probably an NL series and I don't care enough to root.

So go Dodgers!

Vin Scully and Dave Roberts. CA vs. TX. Really not much of a question for me.

I usually root for the team that beats the Sox(excluding the yankees). Like the feeling the Sox were put out by the champions

Answer to the thread Question above: Who Cares? May the better team win. And the umps be good.

Questions: Is this the game thread? Also, how abnormal is this heat in late October for S. California?

Adrian Gonzalez once said it wasn't in God's plan for the Red Sox to succeed in 2011. He hasn't been around the Dodgers clubhouse during this playoff run because he's hurt. So, he'd potentially get a World Series ring that he wants no part of. Tough choice here. I'm in the camp of rooting against the Dodgers until all members of the Punto trade are done with the LAD(Sorry, DR!), but the fact Gonzalez hasn't even been around is too delicious. I wonder if he'd participate in a parade?

I'm pulling for the Astros, they've never won a championship. Hoping in 6, but wouldn't be surprised to see it go 7.

Overall, I am looking forward to an orderly World Series, which will eliminate the need for a violent blood bath.

After the emotional involvement that comes from being a Red Sox fan, I kind of enjoy watching two teams in the Series that I don't have any strong ties to. Just rooting for one more week of good baseball before winter arrives.

Shouldn't Sox fans be rooting for Alex Cora if they don't have much of a reason to root otherwise?

It might be fun to hold out for 86 years with the Dodgers, but I'll never see that anyway. For me also it's Dave Roberts, and not just the steal but his personality and (looks like) really good management ability. They seem to have a good bunch of guys from Kershaw on down, and even Puig has progressed from troublemaker/nut case to just nut case. Not to say that Houston isn't a very likable team. I thing they are too.

Don't forget what Roberts' steal meant to the fan base. He has a permanent place in our hearts.
Of course I get that, but Cora is essentially your current manager. Dunno, always hard to put one's self in other's shoes, but I think that's how I'd root as a Sox fan.

As it is, I'm not quite sure who I'm rooting for, although Puig's awesome new hairdo may have tipped me over to LA.

I actually don't care, as I like both teams. I was just saying I understand how one would root for Dave Roberts. Not caring but looking forward to a great series is where I like to be.

Right now, my love for Roberts is way higher than it is for Cora. So gun to my head, I would root for the Dodgers. That said, I'm just hoping for a 7 game series.
