Simmons was a lot of fun to watch last night and really impressive. His ability to get into the lane at will created a ton of open looks for Covington. They're fun to watch, even if they're not all that good yet.
Yes, but he wasn't productive -- just 1 catch for the game that came before that hit, none after.

Hogan missed some practice time this week, so I would chalk him up as "doubtful."

I'm more worried about Gimore and Rowe potentially missing the game, though. This one could get very, very ugly.

His arm might get tired? Has any football team tried a rope-a-dope strategy yet?
Funny thing about the Rope-A-Dope. We like to think it was invented by Muhammad Ali but in reality it was invented by Matt Dillon in an episode of Gunsmoke when he had to go up against a prize fighter played by the “Shipper” from Gillian’s Island. They went at it in the front yard of a house down the street from the Long Branch saloon. The yard was surrounded by a white picket fence and Matt had seen the Skipper kick Jan Michael Vincent’s ass earlier so he backed up against the fence while the Skipper punched himself out and had nothing left( much the way it went whenever he got into a conversation with his “Little Buddy Gillian) when Matt floored(dirted) him. Ali was an avid television watcher so..............

Remember that time people wanted to trade Butler because we had plenty of depth at CB?
The RS version of that:

"We have seven staaaah-tuhs ..."

It happens every year in one sport or other; is proven again fallacious, but with the obvious lesson then quickly forgotten.

The only thing taken more for granted than the excellence of Boston teams may be the presumed health of the important players on those teams. The sun's always shining, Ronald Reagan always smiling. And there's always a pony under the mountain of crap in the stall.

I don’t think the trade Butler proponents (I wasn’t one of them) were drooling idiots who were advocating to do so out of an abundance of overoptimism or excess depth at CB or “forgetting some obvious lesson” as your post suggests. They were advocating it because Butler leaving in four months and the rest of the defense was playing incredibly poorly.

I wasn’t a fan of the idea, but we shouldn’t twist the arguments of posters.

There was a presumption the Pats would be dealing from surplus.

Not universally and not to the extent that the fellow soshers making the case to trade Butler deserve to be mocked (IMO). The subject was certainly not ignored during the discussion.

How is that a blessing? Would happily take a healthy, effective Rowe even if it costs a round in draft slot.

Well assuming he is back before the last few weeks of the year it's likely a net gain. So far they've been fine without him.

I’m sure the Pats can afford DRS’ $10 copay
Can or will?

This is the league that didn’t want to spend $ on cameras or second helmets for throwback jersey games.

IRT Rowe, you’d think if his injury were significantly worse than the aforementioned Amendola one (great catch DRS) he’d just be IR’ed since that roster spot would be very valuable both now and in cultivating a replacement. IMO there’s no chance he plays Sunday. That would give him a month of recovery time total.

Considering that was more than 15 hours ago, and there has been zero reporting on it today, kind of hard to take seriously.

Ruled out on Wednesday. That is not a good sign. Both the knee and shoulder having problems already this year, not a great long-term omen.

Here
What I’m hanging on to here is that the Patriots haven’t already IR’d him. If it was a pectoral, they’d know by now and Belichick would usually just make the move. However, one possibility if he’s done is they’re waiting to announce because the trade deadline is coming up and they don’t want to reveal their desperation. I don’t enjoy the wait, personally. I want to know and I want to know right now. Someone tell me.

According to a league source, Donta Hightower has a torn pectoral muscle and is out for the year. Big loss for the Patriots
