Perhaps. It would be unusual for him to make the plane trip if he had no chance to play.
Maybe they needed a bartender.

Anyway, thigh contusion...I mean, I know it’s always easy to act like an internet tough guy, but that really seems like an injury you want your star players to battle through. I suppose we don’t know the level and I’m sure it’s painful, but...

If him sitting out Week 5 adds 1% to the likelihood he’s available for the playoff run, I’m all for holding him out. Frankly I’d be fine if they bubble wrapped him until week 12.

If it was painful enough to alter his gait/running stride, you don't want him out there accommodating for it and because of that he tweaks his back

In a playoff game, sure. In a regular season non-conference game coming off a short week where a hobbling Gronk would definitely be noticed by the opposition (and targeted accordingly), I would say it's OK that he was asked to take a seat.

This is one of those times you should have just said, "You know what Ed, if I post this I'm going to look like an idiot," and just deleted it.

It's a thigh contusion. No idea when it happened but Gronk is certainly at his "made of glass" phase of his career.
It's been one long phase.
You guys are wrong and are just purposely being obtuse. Gronk plays harder than any football player I've ever seen. The guy gives his whole body on every play. It's what makes him the greatest TE of all time and one of the best football players on the planet.

Gronk is made of iron ore and musk. I wish I was half as tough as that guy.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the 93,000 hits he took Thursday.

Brady is back at practice but now Solder is missing.
I wonder if it's indeed an injury issue with him, let's just hope it's not his or his kid's cancer coming back.

Can we get clarity on Gilmore, as he was listed on Friday as full participation, then out for the game with a concussion. Who plays corner opposite Butler if both Gilmore and Rowe are out?

Edit: Johnson Bademosi or Jonathan Jones. Reason to be worried?

Reason to be a little concerned but grateful it's the jets this week. Gilmore concussion came as a surprise to several organization folks I spoke to last night who were traveling with the team.

Reiss's report on Mitchell is a major bummer. I wonder if they are holding off on surgery with the hope he'll be available late in the year. Week 10 at this point sounds unlikely.

Where are you guys getting the Reiss stuff on Mitchell? I'm not seeing it.

What did he say, I missed it
"Meanwhile, my sense is that receiver Malcolm Mitchell, who was placed on IR on Sept. 7 (knee), is not close to being a consideration to begin practicing at this point, if at all this year."

Oh man that blows. Fucking preseason claims another one.

We're trending into "Matthew Slater getting reps at WR" territory all too predictably...

Thanks. As DRS said (more colorfully), that's a shame for Mitchell.

Interesting note on the PS DB - a team starting Jonathan Jones with Bademosi as next man up can't have too many DBs in reserve!

What can you gather that may be wrong with his knee other than everything?
I really have no idea. He got hit from behind by one of his own teammates if I remember correctly and it didn't seem like much at the time, but I couldn't glean too much from the mechanism of injury at the time

Um, just saying but it would be nice to have those dudes in our defensive backfield before Sunday.
You mean the Falcons are not going to repeat the Jets’ stupidity and stay away from Bademosi whole focusing on Butler’s man?

Yeah, Matt Ryan and a depleted secondary that was pretty awful for before the injuries is not a great combo. If you had told me pre-season that the Pats had a legit shot at losing three Home games before November....

Not sure where else to put this, but video of Harvey Langi and his wife seeing each other for the first time in 3 days post-accident

Any worries about Hogan for Sunday? He sort of disappeared after the big jolt he took last week vs the Jets, and rib injuries aren't easy to overcome.

He has seemed pretty banged up for several weeks now. I remain concerned about him basically every week.

Unless I was hallucinating, he returned to the game after the hit.
