Are you guys talking about the Lovren histrionics a few minutes before the end of the half? That opportunity to card Lukaku? Because I saw absolutely nothing in that (other than someone jumping on Lukaku's back). United has some loathsome players, starting with Fellaini, but I've never really seen Lukaku thug it up out there in the PL.

(I only started watching at about 33' so maybe I missed one)

No .. he cleaned out Joe Gomez earlier .. Phil Neville of all people commented that it could have been a straight red.

Does anyone have a clip of the Lovren-Lukaku incident??
Best I found was around 0:40 of this: - there wasn't really a single clear angle that shows it since they are panning away for the ball in what would have been the best angle. The one at 0:51 shows the foot hitting the face but it looks pretty incidental there.

Any decent stream to recommend for Maribor? Nothing on FS1 today for Champions League, sigh.

I'm already on my 3rd stream. Fortunately, it doesn't look like there's going to be much drama in this one.
You're gonna jinx it like that, huh?

In order of importance: No injuries, early subs for Salah, Firmino, & Coutinho (Spurs this weekend), and none conceded. Walking away today with 3 points and a +5 GD is perfect.

Spartak taking it to Sevilla 4-1 - if Sevilla don't get a result in their next meeting with Spartak in two weeks, they'll be potentially on the brink of Europa in matchweek 5 against Liverpool.

You have to think Spartak is in the driver's seat either way. Sevilla and Liverpool will likely be playing for elimination.

That's a result that helps Liverpool in the quest to win the group, but now makes it a 3 team fight for the 2 qualifying places.

Spartak still has both Sevilla and Liverpool away. They would probably be the favorite for the Europa spot as of now, although their GD against Sevilla will help with any tiebreakers.

Just catching highlights...

Trent really, really played well today. Given space and a lower quality opponent, he can rip it up. He's holding his own against better competition, too. The future is very bright for the lad.

Moreno looked good, but wither Robertson?

Winning the next two would be supreme. 'Pool can practically clinch the group by winning at Sevilla next match day or by drawing Sevilla and beating Spartak at home ('Pool with +10 and +7 GD over those sides, respectively). They will advance out of the group with two draws. A loss to Sevilla coupled with a Spartak victory over Maribor by 7 or so goals would set up an anxiety-inducing final match day at Anfield....

First tiebreaker is head to head not goal difference, but yes, 2 points from the last two games will be enough to qualify.

But should Liverpool lose to Sevilla, Spartak beat Maribor, then Liverpool and Spartak draw the last match, they would be even on points and H2H. That's where the overall GD could come into play.

Per the Echo, Mane is back in full training. He is out for West Ham, but should be good for Southampton, the weekend after the break. Two weeks ahead of the initial diagnosis.

Going to the Southampton game so hopefully Mane will be back to full fitness by then.

Kloppo post-game:

“We changed the system,” he said. “The 4-4-2, which looked from the beginning a very offensive line-up, we had a different idea, we wanted to defend deeper, more compact.”

Not that this is a cure-all, but it’s nice to see Klopp emphasizing defensive soundness. Lallana due back after the international break, which should provide more flexibility given his workrate and chemistry with Coutinho and Henderson.

Just catching up on the game, and it's another fine all-around performance. Maybe not as solidly defensively as against West Ham (but then again, everyone looks world class against the Hammers these days)...but it was a solid defensive display with Trent AA & Lovren playing extremely well.

With a full, healthy complement up top, it's easy to see Klopp's current vision for this team - a fast, swarming front 4; a two-way support from a midfield pairing; and a back four that empowers the full backs to make runs when they spy chances. Wijnaldum has been playing well in this set up, but I am excited to see a health Lallana in there, shuttling back and forth and terrifying fullbacks who have to decide between tracking Salah and stepping up to Lallana.

An important match at Sevilla on Tuesday and then Chelsea coming to Anfield on Saturday. It's the start of a brutal stretch where 'Pool have 2 matches a week up through Jan 1, including 2 in 3 days to round out this gauntlet. Squad rotation will be vital. Pray for good health.

"Since Luis Suarez left, no Liverpool player has scored more than 14 goals in a season. Mo Salah now has 14 and it's only November. "

I don’t see any choice but to reinstall Milner at left back. I’d take a consistent 5/10 from Milner over an absolute wildcard like Moreno. The kid is what he is- full of potential but dumb as a goddamn stump and hotheaded to boot.

Mignolet saves that penalty, too.

It's been one bad game pretty much all campaign for Moreno.

I'd reinsert Robertson on the weekend for sure, and if he acquits himself well roll with him against Spartak, but I don't think it's time to panic about Moreno specifically. Having said that, how Moreno plays next time out will probably dictate whether or not he gets a contract extension.

On a higher level, I would really like to see Gomez tried at CB consistently, failing the club bringing in another CB in January. My current "ideal" (really challenging the definition of the word) back four is Moreno/Robertson - Gomez - Matip - Alexander-Arnold.

The thing is Moreno has been really good this year. His former club clearly brings out the worst in him.

Going forward - this weekend anyways - I’m kind of torn. You don’t want to destroy the confidence he’s built this year. On the other hand this is a huge game .. so I think I’d bring in Milner and then back to Moreno for the Moscow game.

Chelsea is going to run out Morata, Fabregas, & Zappacosta on their right side. I’d rather have the veteran Milner there to deal with that group than Moreno coming off such a horrible match. With Stoke and then Brighton on the docket after that, Prince Albert will have a chance to get his confidence back.

Salah is rested, Solanke in. Ox is in the midfield with Can and Wijnaldum.

17th minute, Gomez does a great job getting a cross in before the ball goes out of play. The Stoke back line stopped for a second thinking it was a goal kick, and Solanke controls it and slides it to Mane to chip it over the keeper. Firmino was standing right there and could have put it in, but he lets the ball trickle over the line for Mane's goal.

Mignolet is a bit lucky to still be on the pitch. Took down Diouf just outside the box when chasing a ball and got a yellow, could have been red.
