The crack of the bat could have told Lackey and Maddon to not waste any more energy turning to watch the ball go out. Best walkoff since Manny in ‘07?

Edit, make that playoffs walkoff.

Nope, because if it worked, the legend of that coffee sipping ballbag would have grown by leaps and bounds and that's all that human skidmark cares about.

Multiply my hate for the MFY's, Gardner, LET'S GO O'S!! fans and the Broncos by one billion and it doesn't come close to smarmy Joe, the smartest guy on the planet, managing the team I love to hate, from RESPECT ME!! Rizzo, to that lummox of a beer league softball player in left to that hot dog slathered in mustard who plays second to the corpse of Bill Murray in the stands.

Fuck Maddon and fuck the Cubs.

Right in the ear.
This is good

It took Lackey 2 min 12 seconds to throw the last ball to Taylor. I think he knew he had nothing. Wonder if will be his last pitch of the season, or ever.
Dodgers are rolling again.

Jose Bautista's was way better than this, especially given everything that led up to it.

Edit: Whoops, that was the seventh inning, never mind.

Keep the pressure on them, step on their throats Tuesday night and then sweep the leg.

I want to see sad Theo and sad Bill Murray in the stands, start another 100 plus year non championship drought you cubbies you.

Theo had a whole year to build up the bullpen besides Davis, how is it this weak?

I've watched and learned from the master, aka, the Boil..................
Holy shit, that's like the most humbling and scary thing ever.

I mean, fuck it, if our team is out of it, if we can at least entertain the crap out of each other, it really is this place's highest and best use.

(After well formatted sabermetric tables of course.)

Just realized it was 19 years to the day of Gibson's.... that's pretty cool.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's actually 29 years to the day. Yep, you're 10 years older than you thought, just like me.

Enjoy, and don't forget to get your prostate checked.

David Wright has made/will make $127M from the Mets from 2014-2020.
Justin Turner has made/will make $72.6M from the Dodgers from 2014-2020, after the Mets let him go.

This pair of decisions has not worked out ideally for the Mets, but at least they held on to Daniel Murphy.

Couldn't agree more; these MFY/Cubs game threads are entertaining as Hell, they are great reads.

I disagree. Without the Posey injury, the rule is never changed. And without Utley/Tejada, the second base rule is never changed and double plays aren't lay-ups.
The "Posey Rule" thing has grown to urban legend. The rule didn't change because of Buster Posey. It didn't change until 4 years after that happened. The rule changed because Alex Avila got trucked in the playoffs.

For me, rooting against the Cubs starts with Joe Maddon - partly the man himself and partly (maybe even mostly) the neverending media coverage of his every exploit. It was bad when he was in Tampa and its been exponentially worse now that he's in Chicago and in the NL. Watching him pull a Showalter last night was exquisite. I hope they get swept out of the NLCS and every move The GeniusTM makes blows up in his face, although I'm sure his protectors in the national media will pin the blame elsewhere.

While the no-longer-hapless-cubs may be annoying, I am surprised by the pro Dodgers tilt.

My deep Lakers hatred (just as deep as for the MFYs) makes it a no brainer to automatically root against a sexy-snazzy LA team. Even if they have been mostly irrelevant for 30 years.

Am I alone in this foible?

BTW: completely agree with the high entertainment value of these threads. I may be re-reading the Boil comment from game5 cleve-mfy for months.

The Dodgers come across as a pretty likable team to me.
And each win gets them closer to Vin Scully wandering into the booth during a game to do an inning or 2 of the world series. Like Ernie Harwell did when the Tigers beat NYY a few years ago.

Jesus, is the wind really going out? 3 shots already if you count Puig's barely foul 500' job.
