I firmly believe Ausmus/Gardy would be a sideways or worse move, which would make firing Farrell pointless. So get it done with Cora please

I really hope Cora is the next manager. Seems to be widely highly regarded as the next great manager to be

taking the Mets job now would be like

Where did the 'smart Alex Cora' thing come from? I remember game threads about how smart he was every time he got a hit, or made a play. It just became a fact, but I never knew where it came from.

I remember Cora giving rave reviews on either Moncada or Rusney, but can’t remember which. Anyone? Seems like an important detail and a measure of “smartness”.

Also seems pretty odd they’d interview Cora while he’s in the middle of an ALCS, promotion or not.

Not an uncommon occurrence in any sport. Coaches staffs for teams going deep in the playoffs tend to be the ones with guys in demand for vacant manager/head coach jobs. If they didn't interview during the playoffs, they might miss out on a job.

What will be curious is if Dombrowski decides on Cora, will he be typical waste-no-time Dombrowski and get it done before the World Series begins whether the Astros advance or not? If so, this could be wrapped up as soon as the ALCS is over.

That's pretty common, actually. Like Assistant coaches in the NFL interviewing during Bye weeks of the playoffs

It was in fact Castillo. To be fair, Castillo hit .400 with power in that stint with Caguas.

I can already see the “genius!¡” posts when he does something that’s not highly agreed with here. What does he think about bunting?

Yeah, Castillo's had stretches where he's seemed like a very good player, I have wondered to what extent his bad stretches are related to injuries.

The wrong side of the bridge....
I haven't seen the media this certain something was gonna happen since just before we traded for Todd Frazier.

Seriously, I hope it does happen. Whoever he signs with, will it be announced while Houston is still playing? That will seem a little weird. On the other hand it'll be hard to keep under craps, I mean wraps, once it's a done deal.

I thought there were some loose MLB rules about "big announcements" during the playoffs. Or maybe its just the World Series?

The ARod Opt-Out Rule

I guess it depends on the clubhouse, but I could see an announcement made with the stipulation that he remains with the Astros until their season is over

I'm pretty sure he remains with the Astros, no matter when its announced (while theyre still playing). Or at least its up to him and the Astros. They cant just toss their bench coach right now.

Cora is interviewing with the Mets today.

He already interviewed

“@Enrique_Rojas1: Alex Cora fue entrevistado hoy por #Mets. “Fue encuentro muy provechoso”, dijo una fuente.”

Cora was interviewed today by the Mets. "He found it very useful/worthwhile/helpful," said a source.
"He found it very useful/worthwhile/helpful," Doesn't sound very encouraging for the Mets.

Source: The Padres asked the Red Sox permission to interview Chili Davis for hitting coach. Chili’s not going to lack for suitors.
