Felger and Mazz - Creating False Naratives one day at a time

That's because every single beat reporter has said (some version of) he didn't get hurt at practice.

Zolak theorized that Gilmore didn't report symptoms until late in the week, which is (per him) pretty standard throughout the league; guys don't report headaches after the game because everyone has a headache after the game.
It's more likely that the beat reporters would not have seen Gilmore get hurt at practice; the media is only allowed to view a portion of practice.

Gilmore could have gotten hurt against Tampa; or during one of the full practices mid-week. Concussion symptoms sometimes take time to fully manifest themselves. Players often hide "minor" concussion symptoms. None of Mazz, Zolak, or the beat writers have a clue in this case.

But several of them did speak with Gilmore after practice each day last week, and they are presumably doing their jobs, so when they report it likely didn't happen at practice, I believe them. YMMV.

That's a good summary of my post. Thanks.

There's huge difference between don't know for certain and don't have a clue. In this case, the speculation - unconfirmed obviously, is that it happened late in the TB game when he banged helmets with Mike Evans. (I think that was Phil Perry, but I'm not sure and I'm not looking it up)

Zolak's part in this story was "reporting" that players don't report concussions. Which in addition to be true, is something you agreed with a sentence ago. So he too has a clue.

Mazz wasn't involved at all in this, but he never has a clue, so good call on that.

The Pats beat writers are terrific; lots of other teams' beat writers are simply press release facilitators and Steve Burton like empty vessels for team propaganda. But Perry, Jeff Howe, Mike Reiss, and the others do a first rate job of actually ferreting out information and providing informed (read: sourced) speculation.

If that win yesterday was a shitshow I'd like their opinion on the Falcons blowing a 17-0 lead at home to a 2-3 Miami team or the pathetic performance the Broncos put up last night against an 0-5 Giants team at home.
amen on the broncos maybe they shouild move to denver so they can watch what bad QB'S really is

Is it really that hard to spell Pats and make it possessive? The apostrophe goes after the s, like it has since grammar school when you learned it. Thank you. Please resume your discourse.

Mazz, a sports talk-show host, just told the world that he turned off Game 7 of the World Series in the middle innings and went to bed. And he was proud of himself.

I'm trying to imagine Mike and/or the Mad Dog ever turning off a World Series Game 7 mid-game because they got sleepy.

Whenever I am awake, I make sure never to turn on Felger and Mazz.

You're surprised about this? Mazz giggles about missing games all the time. It's his job and he readily admits that he doesn't give a fuck about any of it.

There is no one in the world who hates sports more than a sportswriter. (There are some exceptions.)

Mazz is a fraud and Felger's lapdog with a Napoleonic complex.

I mean he openly admits he doesn't even watch the Red Sox, which he's paid to talk about.

Uhhhh...was anyone listening to this today? Wow.
Felger’s a professional troll, no surprise there. From that link, I did think this quote sounded familiar.

[In a voice mocking Halladay] Weee! Oh look I just landed on the water, everybody. I’m gonna tweet it!’ Splat. You’re dead. Two kids. Moron.
And then I realized what it reminded me of:

Zo and Beetle (with Breer) were on today while the video was posted on TMZ and essentially had the same take. May have worded it differently but they essentially said this changed how they viewed the accident and no longer felt bad for him. I believe they both called him an idiot

He’s not wrong ...
He IS wrong to the extent that he is saying that flying itself makes Halladay blameworthy. Had he had focused on just the manner in which Halladay was flying, he would have been on safer ground (no pun intended).

But yep, he's saying what a lot of people are thinking. And yet, there is a time and a place, and a way of saying things. What Felger did yesterday, and will no doubt double down on today unless he's given a time out, was pure asshole.

Cue all the "It's you're fault for listening!" Felger apologists.

I fucking hate that argument. We listen because Boston is a sports talk loving city, and the 2-6 block on WEEI isn't always great. So sure, I'll listen 3-4 times a week. That doesn't mean I have to accept the garbage being poured in my ear.

What happened yesterday was disgusting. I was watching the simulcast, and once it became clear where he was going with this, immediately turned it off. I felt dirty just watching and listening to them. Not only was Felger denigrating Halladay, but he got into his whole mocking/screaming yelling-into-the-microphone act that he does whenever someone brings up Green-Teamers, running the football, or Patriots bobos: "Oooooo! Whaaaa! Look at me! Ohhhhh! Run the ball! Yea! Fly your plane! Woooo!"

He is my least favorite personality in Boston sports media, and I look forward to his eventual and inevitable decline. His ego is out of control; he thinks he's bigger than the market now after their success the past couple years. He should remember that Ordway and the Big Show were once considered unbeatable, too.

I hope he runs into one of Halladay's friends one day.

I really dislike Minihane, but that's pretty funny.

Wait. He's your least favorite Boston sports media personality, yet you listen to him three-to-four times a week? Are you there for Mazz' lukewarm takes about things he has zero interest in or Jim Murray's everything sucks whines?

There are other ways to occupy your time.

Felger's just projecting. He knows that when *he* dies, a not-insignificant portion of people who hear about it won't be sad.
Maybe I live a boring life, but I think my not-sad percentage is much closer to zero.

If Felger's ability to stack piles of money is enough to ignore that, then more power to him.

And here we go! Contestant #1 in the "why do you listen" sweepstakes. Only took, literally, one minute.

I enjoy sports talk radio, so I listen to both stations. When they're not trolling (more and more rare these days), F&M are listenable. If Dale weren't so sleep-inducing, I'd listen to EEI more because I think Holley and Keefe are decent.

Your argument is like saying you have only two channels to watch on your TV. One channel does something particularly offensive, but you're at fault for watching and getting offended.

And yesterday was offensive. If he really thinks that way, fine. Keep it to yourself. There's a time and a place.

Yes. You can hold that sort of "he was being stupid and reckless" opinion, but it's crass beyond the pale to unleash that before the body has even cooled, to unleash it in a way that shows zero sense of loss and empathy, and before we find out exactly what happened in the accident.

If you flew a toy plane to get from the hospital where you wife just gave birth in order to make a sports game on time would Felger be okay with that?

I stopped the video after that because that was as good as it was going to get. I love Zo, that giant meatball.
I absolutely died laughing at this part, as well as Minihane screaming "ME TOO!" just before when the security guard touched him.

It only took a minute because your initial post was incredibly idiotic.

You say:

- Mike Felger is "least favorite personality in Boston sports media"
- You "look forward to his eventual and inevitable decline"
- Also Felger's "ego is out of control; he thinks he's bigger than the market now after their success the past couple years" and a bunch of other stupid bullshit.

Yet:

- "So sure, I'll listen 3-4 times a week"
- "That doesn't mean I have to accept the garbage being poured in my ear."

On that last point, you do accept the garbage being poured in your ear. You put the funnel to your ear and allow the garbage being poured in. There is an off switch in your radio.

Your example of there being two TV stations and one is a shitty one and shows a lack of cognitive thinking. Because in your analogy, one would assume that you could, you know, shut the TV off if you find anything offensive. Which, by the way, wasn't the point of this discussion.

You're the one who says you don't like Mike Felger, not me. I'm fine with Mike Felger and what he does. Yesterday was not a red banner day for Mr. Underwood, but when you spend four hours a day, every day chasing the spicy take dragon, you're going to get burnt eventually.

And quite honestly, I don't give a shit what you listen to in every day -- this is quite literally the first time I've noticed one of your posts. But don't think that you're hurting Mike Felger by hate listening to him three to four times a week and hoping that he gets shit canned. Ratings don't work like that -- they don't care WHY you're listening to a program, only that you are.

Give Kirk credit. Sounds like the dumbshit twofer. Ratings stunt, and mocking sexual assault victims. If Father Coughlin had had Kirk's talents, the government might not have kicked him off the air.

How is mocking sexual assault victims funny?

The concept is sorta funny and Felger deserves some wrath...but watching the video, thats complete bush league behavior, Kirk sounds like a lunatic and desperate for attention. I came away feeling a little sad for him...but not too much.

That line was dumb but he’s been he’s been going after Callahan hard every time Gerry starts victiming blaming by saying the women could’ve stopped this years ago by reporting it.

Well, this video may eclipse the number of people who listen to that show by the thousands. The line was more than dumb. And he yelled it and it was definitely a "planned" line. You know he discussed this with his co-host about what he would do if anyone touched him.

Well he was an ahole before this and an ahole after this but I guess I liked how he wasn’t putting up with that crap.
Yeah, the sentiment is good (assuming its genuine), but the sentiment goes out the window for me when he executes it that way. YMMV.
