Re: Tate

If no Falcons had been on the field and the ball had come loose when Tate's chest hit the ground, I assume by current NFL catch rules it would've been considered an incomplete pass.

While I think it's clear that his knee was on the ground and a Falcon was touching him before the ball was across the goal line, I would think that in order to "be down" he would need to have possession... which would happen after he "completed the catch"... which from everything I understand about the NFL catch rules, didn't happen until he was in the end zone.

Is there a specific rule that counters what I'm saying? I haven't seen it mentioned in the articles I've read.

The "surviving the ground" portion of the rule is an axiom that's used to determine if the receiver truly controlled the ball. If the ball comes out after hitting the ground, then the receiver must not have truly had control over the ball. If the receiver survives the ground, then he had control the entire time and the catch is made where he first contacts/controls the ball.

OK. Not sure I like this murky state of conditional possession, but I guess that fits with the sideline catch rules. Thanks.

Did they get up before the end? I turned it on, mid-anthem, and didn't see anyone kneeling.

Although, I did see EE's belly button. So I've got that going for me, which is nice.

Meh, I think Arizona outclassed them. Really nice gesture to lock arms with the military and veterans they were honoring. Takes away the "disrespecting the military" aspect that so many complained about over the weekend.

And it was nice of Dallas to continue the protest by laying down for the first Arizona drive :)

The Dallas defense has really picked up where they left off last week.

And the offense too, apparently.
The offense looks absolutely dreadful. You can at least excuse the defense for now with the completely pulverized secondary from all the injuries.

Wow. Bold play by Dak. Somehow this game is about to be tied.

I'll take going into halftime tied after that abomination of a first quarter.

Did Amari Cooper fucking die? 1 catch?!
Josh Norman.

They won their first two games by a combined 35 points, so they weren't exactly airing it out in the 2nd halves of those games. I expect Cooper to end up with 75-85 catches, 1,250 yards, and 8-10 TD's when all is said and done. Barring injury, of course.

Didn't Norman take more Crabtree than Cooper?

Six drops this season so far for Cooper. He's been pretty bad so far.

That was absolutely glorious by Dez. And it's nice to see the offense finally wake up this drive.

Great throw on the run. I feel like Dak anticipates the rush a count or two early sometimes and steps out of the pocket when he has opportunities to step up in it, but if he makes plays anyway you can live with that while his awareness grows.

The Cowboys of last year and 2014 would run out the clock here running it. But the line has been pushed around for the most part tonight so it's probably up to Dak to try and score a TD here to put it away.
