I mean at this point I just don't know what to say.

Given the utter lifeless offensive display in the 4th quarter, I thought this game was toast.

Game balls? You know who gets'em.

LOL, indeed.

Brady is God.

Defense isn't close to being competitive, but glad they haven't dug a hole if they fix it later

Not Nate Solder, who has been awful this year.
Yep. He's probably banged up but it's a comfortable win with better LT play.
Also they miss Hightower a lot, those LBs are all complementary pieces at best.

I thought the defense actually played pretty well in general. I'm not sure they were prepared for his escapability (they've kept other mobile QBs in the pocket better) but Watson got away with some prayers.

Brady obviously.

Then below that...Gronk, Cooks and Amendola.

And just for shits and giggle, Harmon for sealing yet another game with a pick.

Isn't he playing hurt? I agree he hasn't been playing up to his normal levels but I'm not sure that Cam Fleming would be playing better. Their tackle depth isn't a strong point. I will admit I am one of the foremost Solder apologists.

Game balls to the OLine for not compounding their errors and recovering the fumbles they caused by not adequately blocking.

If the Texans were going to beat the Patriots at home, this would have been it. Early in the season, key players hurt, not everything in place yet for the coaching staff.

Wait, isn't that what we said before game 3 last year?

Wasn't he on his back/falling? Whatever on the catch, these guys arent fucking computers- what if he 'dropped' it and it bounced into the air?

The fact he got up and started running was inexplicable. I was screaming at the TV.
I never saw the bolded so my bad on that if he was on his back and it landed on his chest.

Currently, Patriots have the worst in points against, ghastly 95 points.

Lucky they have scored the 2nd most with 99 points (only 8 behind the Rams).

I couldn't see the game because I'm out of market, but the defense seemed to have a really tough day...but based on what y'all saw, should game balls go to:

Malcom Brown and Lawrence Guy for making the crucial stop on that late-4Q 3rd and 1 to hold Houston to a FG? Kyle Van Noy had 11 tackles, including 2 or 3 big ones in the late 4Q drives. I just don't know if any of these guys got burned earlier.

Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

Yup. Its important to remember that of the 33 points, 7 were the INT/Fumble, and 7 came right after Brady falling down at the goal line and a 33 yard punt. The refs also seemed to be pretty slow to call holding on offensive lineman - Cassius Marsh (and Flowers) were both routinely getting inside on their guys, and then getting held as they moved past them.

Solder should have been paying better attention to that.

And Watson got lucky on a lot today - he's going to have days where those scrambles turn into a whole bunch of sacks, and those off balance throws across the field turn into Ints. If he keeps playing like this, he's going to have some real highlights, and some real lowlights.

Van Noy lost the edge a couple of times for long runs and made that terrible decision to go for an INT.

T. Brady: 25/35 for 378 yards, 5 TDs, zero INT
Point of reference... I was flipping back and forth between Pats and Red Sox...Was the Clowney td play ruled a fumble or an INT? It did not matter in all practicality because it was a touchdown either way but just curious.. It looked like an INT to me but what do I know...nothing!

CBS for going to the NE game (instead of 15 minutes of post game show) in the NY market after the NYJ game ended so we could watch the final 3 minutes.

GOAT and CHEF EXTRAORDINAIRE (Cooks) get the game balls

Gronk, Hogan, Dola, White were good. (White is being underutilized IMHO)

Everyone else pretty much sucked.

O-line goat-age reinforced TB's GOAT-age, even as he theoretically approached his NGL dotage.
He was getting hammered from the left on some costly plays. A litttle better coverage there and I think this game isn't quite so close.

They'll figure it out on D.

That was as unlikeliest 92 yard last second winning drive you'll ever see. So, Brady.
I'm not sure how much the defense is fixable, we will see. I'm glad to see them put a bit of a lid on the "not mentally tough" stuff though. I think they should get a little more rope on that after 16 winning seasons and 28-3.

Almost without fail the Pats D has become better each year as the season progresses. I see no reason to expect anything different this year.

Here
The weird thing about the D is I can't even point out who was bad, except the linebackers. Front four stuffed the run and had pressure all day, Watson made some plays. Secondary seemed pretty solid overall. Van Noy and Roberts, not so much. Is it all them?

Just a weird day, lots of broken plays that worked out for Houston.

This is what happens when you face a QB that has that kind of escapability and athleticism. If you can't contain him, he's capable of making huge plays. You can't ask the secondary to cover for like 7-8 seconds, and even then, they made some incredible catches.

There could have been like 3 interceptions today but they only got one. There could have been like 5-6 sacks but they only got 2. Watson is an elite athlete with some pretty good (not elite) throwing ability. He made a bunch of plays, but the Patriots D really only gave up 23 points despite Houston making some great plays. There are going to be days where Watson will dance and escape and throw a ball up for grabs and it will be intercepted. This is how it goes against a QB like this. It wasn't like he just stood in the pocket and dissected the Patriots' secondary.

Well said. Sometimes you just tip your cap to a great performance. There doesn’t always have to be a slew of people to blame.

Also got to credit the Turf Monster. Saved the Pats a couple times on Watson runs.

I thought Guy looked pretty bad. Seemed like he over-pursued and got beat a handful of times when Watson cut up the middle. Oh well, win the game, get out injury free (knock) and give Belichick something to harp on this week at practice is about as good as it gets.
