Women's tour is at Evian in the French Alps, somewhere on a mountainside. Final major of the year. They had to cancel the first round earlier in the week because the weather was so awful. They are playing right now in a playoff. Currently it is some sort of mix between hail, sleet, and torrential rain, plus 30 mph winds. There are huge puddles on the green as they are playing which they are trying to squeege. Absolutely amazing stuff to watch.

It's over, Norquist wins it with a bogey on the playoff hole

Huge back nine in progress for Rob. He's -4 on the back, and -3 on the round, and now tied for 15th, heading into the 18th hole. A par here. Just a par. Please.

Sweet, showing a par on 18. As of now, he would be 8th in the playoffs as it currently stands. Going to be awfully hard for him not to finish in the top 25 with 2 events left. WOOHOO.

He stays in 7th position after 2 events. Not sure it's even possible for 18 guys to jump over him in the last two events, but let's not take any chances. Make the cut next week, earn some money, and gap this thing.

Yup, was just talking to his brother about that. Obviously, the most important thing is to just get into the top 25, but yes, the higher up the list you get, the better your status. When he got his tour card a couple years ago, he was 25th in the playoffs, so he was literally the last guy on the PGA Tour to get his card, so if everyone wants to play a given week, he's out. I'd love to see him stay in the top 10 in the playoffs. 15 or so spots is a HUGE deal. Probably the difference in getting into 3-4 tournaments over the course of the season. He's playing really well. The first two days this week, he was paired with Chesson Hadley, who he had a two shot lead on after they finished playing. Hadley went on to win the tournament. There are some really good golfers in this thing, and he's holding his own.

Rob opens the 3rd leg of the playoffs with a -2 68. Put him at T10 with the second wave about to tee off. Good start...

As for the PGA playoffs, I don't really have a problem with the courses, but I'd like to see some tweaks to the format. I think match play would be cool. Maybe something like the Tour Championship is 36 or 54 holes of stroke play, then they cut everyone except the top 4 in the points standings. Then those 4 play match play for the $10 million. Rory vs Moore was a great entertainment last year, but it was a little weird that DJ's $10 million bonus was in the hands of Ryan Moore. I know DJ blew it and the answer is for him to play better, but that seemed a bit clunky. Put the $10 million in front of 2 or 4 players and have them go head-to-head. I think that could work.

Oh, I like that idea. What about making it an 8 man match play, with the 1 and 2 seeds going in having and automatic berth, and the other 6 being the top 6 after Thursday/Friday. The 1/2 seeds could either be handled by letting them rest and be fresh for the weekend, or by having them play to get a feel for the course with the other 6 being filled by the top 6 who aren't them. I unabashedly love match play formats, though, so I might be crazy talking.

Match play would be awesome but I can't imagine the Tour would see the same revenue dollars from advertising. It would be really cool to see the final four playing together, match play, but you'd have a commercial break every five minutes. None of the match play events do very well ratings wise when they get down to the final groups.

69 today, -3 for the tourney and T18. Had it to -5 at the turn but stumbled a bit starting the back. Birdies 16 and 17, so a nice rebound to finish the round.

Paycheck secured. 2 rounds to move up the leaderboard and really drive the nail in and have his card locked up before next weekend.

-3 at the turn today, got himself all the way up into a tie for 5th at the moment. Doing exactly what he needs to do.

-2 day for Rob to finish at -5 and T9. With a bunch of golfers still out on the course, he may lose a position or two but is in a great spot going into the final round.

TV coverage just starts, in time to see Rob put his second shot on the front of the green on the par 5 9th. A birdie here would put him into solo 2nd a couple shots back

Ugh, seems like it was a bad 3putt. It wasn't shown. Still he is in a big group tied for 2nd, one who is already in the clubhouse

Atkins the co-leader to start the day opens up with 2 pars and then goes

Bogey-Bogey-Double-Bogey-Ace

Rob playing well, but leaving strokes out there. 3putts 9 for a par, makes birdie on 10, and then missed 6 footer for birdie on 11. He is in a 2 way tie for 2nd at -8, 2 behind the leader

Most important thing for Rob is fairways. If he's hitting fairways, he won't give shots back, and it seems like he's doing that. Surprised to see him miss putts, but as long as he's not giving up shots, it's huge. Love that they are playing a course where the winner isn't going -20. Works for Rob. If it ended right now, Rob would move up to 3rd overall in the playoffs, and virtually guarantee himself a top 10 finish after next week.

Come on Rob, 3 holes to go starting with a par 5. Get 1 more birdie here, and you might just win this thing

Looks like he birdied 16, but I didn't see any of it. Showing -8 on the leaderboard now.
They showed his eagle putt which missed by a couple inches. There was some question at first. The TV guys said birdie, the leaderboard had him taking 3 shots to reach the green and then switched back to 2.

Lindheim also birdies (at 12), so Rob is now tied for second 2 strokes back. Finish strong here.

Definitely the minors as far as TV production goes. Rob is in 2nd place and has had one shot shown in the last 25 minutes.

I think he is off to 18 now after a par on 17. Just one more great hole Rob

Looks like worst case scenario now is 4th place in the tournament, which I assume would leave him in top 5. Real chance his day isn't actually over yet

Yep, this back 9 has been tough on guys all week. Rob did what he needed to do, posted a number, and wait to see what happens. Let's not lose sight of the most important thing. Rob is officially back on the PGA tour. I'm so happy for him.

Absolutely, I want to see him get a nice big paycheck (relatively), and of course lock up a top 5 stop in the playoff standings as well. I am greedy for him

Lindheim leaves his pitch short. About 25 feet from off the green for par. Unless he makes, Rob is headed to a playoff.

What was the scenario for JT and Spieth to go back out for a playoff? I missed that.

Also - awesome news for Rob. Super excited for him.

God almighty, my heart is jumping out of my chest. And I'm just sitting on my couch. I'd need new pants if I was the one playing.

Good three wood off the tee for Rob. Slightly lucky bounce into center fairway.

Two in center of fairway, Hadley in bad shape in rough.

I'll be honest, I'm going to feel kind of awful for Lindheim if Rob wins this.

Edit: This is assuming that a non-win puts him on the outside looking in going into next week. I could be wrong on that though.
