As many of you know FOX sports just recently fired a bunch of online writers so they could focus more on "video"
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-06-26/fox-sports-cuts-web-writing-staff-to-invest-more-in-online-video

And just now Jamie Horowitz was fired/quit the company. And if the internal email sent to employees is any indication this shit show is about to get a lot more ugly

“@Ourand_SBJ: BREAKING: Jamie Horowitz, President of National Networks for FOX Sports, will be leaving FOX Sports effective immediately.

Were there any rumors of issues with Horowitz previously? The references to "professional conduct" and "values" seem to imply a sexual harassment/inappropriate comment type of situation...

I wish Katie Nolan could get off that sinking ship and use her talents elsewhere.
Was thinking the same thing. She's been mired in Fox purgatory since the Super Bowl. Maybe whoever replaces Horowitz can find some way to get her back on TV regularly.

Couldn't have happened to a bigger asshole. I've known him for 30 years, and while I haven't seen him in 15, I can guarantee he is still just as big a piece of shit, as he was then.

Edit: 35 years, Christ I'm getting old.

As when he was ten years old?

Updated the thread title to reflect the news that fox sports.com has also gone video only. Which means Ken Rosenthal is no longer writing articles for fox sports. He will appear on fox broadcasts, but you will no longer find his articles on foxsports.com.

He tweeted a few hours ago that he is looking for a new place to write.

GJGE FOX. You really outdid yourself this time.

If they are going this route, please hire H. Jon Benjamin or Patrick Warburton for dramatic re-readings.

But seriously. i wouldn't be shocked to see fox reverse course and start doing written articles again within the next year.

Whenever I click into an SI article, there is a 30-second video talking about the article below. Is it that hard for their video team to do that?

I'm growing increasingly curious what the plan for Katie Nolan is. I had expected a fall relaunch with her at the center, but there has been no announcements, publicity or promos to that extent. She's been essentially radio silent other than sharing that she was traveling to Isreal with Kraft for what i presume is a piece for NFL Films Presents. I have to say that im baffled by the decision to keep a rising star in mothballs for the better part of a year. It takes time to develop a new show but one would think they'd be launching it to coincide with football season. So what/where is it?

FS1 had Seth Joyner on one of their shows the other day (I was listening briefly on a Sirius XM simulcast in my car so I wasn't sure which one). He was making a passionate defense of Kaepernick when the conversation turned to protests, confederate monuments, etc. Someone asked him why it's okay to celebrate Washington and Jefferson considering they were slave owners. Joyner defended those two with some strange rant about how they united the country when it was falling apart. It was clear he didn't know the difference between the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. One of the hosts interrupted him and tried to explain it to him. It was incredibly cringe-worthy.

I loved Joyner as a player and in the limited time I've heard him discuss football he appears to be pretty good. But he can't be on national TV adamantly arguing a point without understanding the subject unless he wants to look foolish. I felt bad for him.

What's incredible about how little they've done with Nolan since the Super Bowl is that she made her name on Youtube. You'd think that if anyone in their employ would be front and center with the no-articles-all-video foxsports.com, it would be her.

Richard Deitsch from SI has a scoop indicating that Foxsports traffic has cratered since the video pivot.

FROM A SOURCE:

Fox Sports Digital page views for August 19-Sept. 17: 16.7 million.

From May 27-June 25: 143.9 million.

I have never known a career where having a blowup with the people who sign your checks ends well, especially not when the complaint is that he's being paid but not being used. That's an easily-solved problem.
