I have my 9 year old sitting here rooting hard against literally everyone else. Every time they miss a putt, he yells, and then asks "That's good for Rob, right?"

If he keeps striping the driver down the center, he'll be in really good shape. That's always been the weak part of his game, but he seems to have figured something out (knock on wood). When he's got an iron or less in his hand, usually, good things happen.

Rob plays the first 8 holes in -4. If he can get through the next 4, the hardest on the course, in even par, he'll be in perfect position. Still a 3 shot lead on everyone still on course.

He got a couple of seriously good breaks on that last hole. You generally need a couple of those to win.

And now an absolute disaster on 11, at least Garnett went into the water on 14

Yep, I was petrified of this stretch. I've played enough with Rob to know when his swing looks tentative, and his last few tee shots have all been that. We'll know quickly if he is going to fall apart or if he's going to have a good back 9. Has to hit fairways.

I had to pause it and walk away, and when I came back and caught up, i saw the birdie putt, so now I can't watch it live. I have serious superstition issues. I'll be back again after I let 5-10 minutes go by.

Ugh, the one thing you can't do on 15.

Going to be a very long up and down to get in for the almost required birdie here

They keep saying how well Rob is hitting the wedges, and he hasn't been hitting poor ones, but it seems to me he has been leaving most in the 15-20 foot range all night

Yep, up until today, he had been literally knocking flags down with his wedges, but today hasn't been good by his standards at all. Man, if nothing else, I just want to see him get a tie for 2nd. He needs to move up the money list. Dropping into a massive tie for whatever would be a disaster.

Tied for 7th, tied for 2nd, and he goes from 84 to 30 on the money list in two weeks. Have to take it, but man, what could have been. He went even par over the last 17 holes today, on a course he was shredding. Oh well, has to have a ton of confidence now heading down the stretch.

How many more events are there?
6 more regular season events, and then the top 25 get PGA cards.

Then the 4 week playoff starts, and the top 25 over those four weeks (not including the guys who already got their cards) get PGA cards. Last year, Rob was in 26th position after three weeks, like $390 behind 25th, and the fourth event, the Tour Championship, got cancelled due to Hurrican Matthew. One of the many gut punches he's had over the last 5 years or so.

Even par 71 from Rob in R1, leader was at -7. He's currently T93 and the cut's projected to be -2 so has some work to do. Looks like he tees off at 2:10 local time.

5 under his last 13 (started on 10) to finish the day -5 (T14). Cut was indeed -2 so nothing to it. Leader's at -9. Striking distance....

Yup, good day today. Really would love to see a top 10 this week. I think realistically, he'll need at least 2 top 10's, or a top 5 plus a few other decent finishes to get himself into the top 25 before the regular season ends. Right now, at #30, he's about $11,000 back of 25th.

Good final round for Rob. Tough bogey on 17 but after a fairly poor round where everyone moved up on Saturday nice to see him get a top 20.

$8000 payday and up to number 26. Five tournaments to go.

#26. All I can say is "here we go again."

As long as the last 5 tournaments are won by guys who are ahead of him on the money list (and preferably the guys who finish in the top 3 in each tournament), it'll be difficult for people to jump over him, but if the last five events are won by 5 first time winners, they'll all jump right over him. It's at that point where it not only matters how Rob does, but we have to start watching the other guys too. A top 5 somewhere would go a long, long way though.

He has to try to find a way to earn another 25-35K to feel reasonably safe I would have to think. So many guys right behind him, and obviously he needs to pass at least one guy

Rob just shot a 63 in the 2nd round to take the lead in the tournament this week at NIcklaus Lionsgate. Bunch of guys still on the course, so he may not be there at the end of the round, but he'll still be in great position. The first round was rained out on Thursday, so today may actually be the "third" round, because I think they are just going to go with 3 rounds instead of 4. Another big, life changing possibility, day tomorrow for Rob.

Earlier in the week they said they were going to do 36 tomorrow but it is possible they may have changed that.

Edit: I probably should have done this before I posted the first time but I checked and verified the plan is as I stated above.

Yep, just talked to his brother, and if the weather is good, it's 36 tomorrow. Long day, but Rob usually does well when they play more than one round in a day. Just wish the damn thing was televised this week.

Well hopefully round 4 will be better than round 4. These courses are silly, Rob shoots 67, and it seems more like 75, as 7 guys in front of him were 63 or below

+1 through 8 for Rob, gonna need to pick it up on the back 9. FWIW, Web.com leader board says he would move up to 25 if the day ended now. Would have been 22nd before the round started, though.

Rob should have his own thread by now. Maybe even a web.com thread, but it's been great following his story and it would be cool to follow similar guys, whether we know them or not. Kind of like a golf prospects thread.

+2 through 12. One thing is for sure, Rob is never going to make it easy on any of us. This will come down to the final hole, on the final day. It always does.

That's 4 straight top 20's, including 3 top 15's. Again though, what could have been. Wish they would play a harder course one of these weeks, because that's when Rob seems to be able to separate himself from the pack a bit. It's hard for a guy who isn't that long to do much better than -16 over 4 rounds. Would like to see one of those courses where a score like -10 wins, and not -25.

Anyway, he's now officially into 25th position. Unfortunately, the guy that won this week is a first time winner, so he jumped from like 53 to 15 on the list. If one of the guys who finished second, Kyle Thompson, had won, Rob would have gone up to 24th. Another solid week though. 4 more of those, and I think he gets in.
