Hey y'all, just 38 days till . . . Hawaii vs. UMass! Conferences are having their media days this month so there'll probably be some news.

North Dakota State's AD says he's been told the Big 10 is going to modify it's FCS scheduling mandate that banned FCS games. Since teams now have nine conference games, he says Big 10 will allow teams to schedule FCS teams in years when they have 4 home conference games, but not when they have 5 home conference games.

I think that strikes a pretty good balance; FCS schools get a payday, and Big 10 teams get an easier 3rd non-conf game and probably sell a lot of tickets to road fans.

Freeze is out at Ole Miss amid prostitution allegations with questions of whether or not the two are related? Well, if they’re from Mississippi they could be cousins at the very least.

Idiot. But, it's 2017, when will America end the morality clause to hold a job?
When a significant portion of that job involves promising parents that you'll (at the very least) take care of their son and help provide a good example of a positive male role model while he is away from home, that clause can be rather ponderous.

The weight only increases when you spend a bunch of time preaching about christian family values as part of your sales pitch.

Wasn't Freeze Michael Oher's high school coach at a Christian academy? It was iffy at best whether he would've survived the whole infractions thing anyway. Ole Miss can now throw him under the bus and hope for the best from NCAA.

lolz! Cause they're from the south right? And they're like all inbred down there right? So he'd call his cousin when he wanted to fuck someone. Get it? lolz!

They crazy part is that Houston Nutt's lawyer is the one who found the number for the escort service, because Nutt is suing the school for defamation. Ivan Maisel talked about it on the College football podcast today. Nutt's lawyer was crosschecking anonymous sources tied to Ole Miss from news reports with Freeze's phone records, to see if people from Ole Miss people were talking about him. There was apparently an agreement when Nutt was fired that each side wouldn't say anything bad about the other side.

Andy Staples at SI.com argues the opposite: That Ole Miss firing Freeze in this way, with the statements they made, precludes them from dumping the NCAA mess on his doorstep.
What they made clear is that they didn’t push out Freeze for anything having to do with the NCAA’s case against the Rebels. This puts Ole Miss in an uncomfortable position. After digging in their heels for years defending Freeze, the Rebels can’t now flip on him and blame him for all their NCAA issues. They’ll have to continue to defend Freeze before the COI, because it’s too late to change tack.
He goes on to detail exactly how badly Ole Miss screwed themselves in their pursuit of moral turpitude. Summary: they're pretty screwed. This, plus the coming reckoning from the NCAA, is probably going to drive the program into the ground for a decade.

Well, prostitution is illegal so it goes beyond morality somewhat. If he was just fired for having an affair or divorcing his wife or something, then I think you could fairly criticize.
Besides, he'll be out of work for one season, tops. Next year he'll either be a position coach at a major program or HC at a small school.
