Callahan has settled down since his first 4 appearances in AA. Over his last 7 games and 9.2 innings, he has 10k/3bb and an era of 2.79. He has given up 2 HRs though. Hitters are slashing .152/.222/.394 with a BAbip of .143 in that time. He coasted through AA, having 13ip, 0bb/20k and a 0.62 WHIP. Still just 22, the move to the bullpen has definitely helped his career and has seen him rise through the system quite quickly.

Longhi is 1/2 with a HR in todays game so far.

He struggled to start the year but since the beginning of May he is slashing .285/.348/.417 in 159 PA. In the month of June, including his 1/2 today, he is slashing .288/.345/.547 in 59 PA with 8 doubles, 2 HRs. It's easy to overlook he is still 21 years old and in AA. Even more so since he got off to a terrible start. If he develops any type of power, he could actually be a decent prospect.

April .182/.194/.288 67 PA, 1 double, 2 HR
May .290/.353/.376 102 PA, 5 double, 1 HR
June .288/.345/.547 59 PA, 8 doubles 2 HR

Chavis in an 0/14 slump with 8 strikeouts. Ockimey is hitting .195/340/.220 in his last 50 PA (9bb, 9k) coming into today's game as well.

Lakins continues to struggle in Portland, going 4.2ip, 1h, 4bb/4k 85 pitches, 46 strikes.

Dedgar Jimenez continues his solid season, 6ip, 4h, 3er, 1bb/6k. 69.1ip on the year, 20bb/60k, 2 HRA and an era of 3.38. He turned 21 in March so he's age appropriate for Salem.

Henry Owens 7.0 ip, 3h, 2er, 4bb/5k on 105 pitches, 64 strikes. Rusney is currently 2/3 and is now hitting over .300 for the year.

LHP Jhonathan Diaz in Greenville may be worth following. He missed all of 2015 but came back strong in 2016 and had a solid 2014 too. He is 20 years old. He had a 5ip, 5, 3er, 0bb, 8k performance 2 starts ago and went 4ip, 4h, 1bb/4k today. He was only at 57 pitches so I'm not sure why he was pulled. His pitch totals have been on decline though. 80,87,71,69,57 in his 5 starts. He is now at 22ip, 5bb/19k with a 4.09 era.

Much like Dedgar Jimenez, they aren't even listed in the top 60 Sox prospects at soxprospects.com. That'll probably change when they update their list. Especially for Dedgar.

Prior to the season, Diaz career numbers were 126.1ip, 98hits, 34bb/111k, 3 HRA. Control pitcher who can keep the ball down.

and Castillo extends his hitting streak to 16 games with a single in the 2nd inning. He lead off the first with a HBP and stole 2nd and 3rd.

Chavis slump extends to 0/17, 10 k.

Paw Sox drop two. The Dentist was standing behind the plate for the post game run the bases. I was thinking about having my kid go in leg high, but five years old and no spikes would have made it a futile effort.

Devers hit his 15th HR last night and had a triple for good measure. Longhi stays hot, going 2/5 with HR #6 and a double. Now up to .265/.312/.416 for the year.

Chavis won the All-star game MVP yesterday. He went 1/3 with a double and no strikeouts. Josh Ockimey went 0/3 with 1k, and De La Guerra went 1/2 with a double and a k. Trevor Kelly pitched 1 inning, striking out 2. Dedgar Jimenez and Matthew Kent DNP.

In the SAL all star game, Logan Boyd got lit up going 1ip, 4h, 3er on 2k. Roldani Baldwin went 1/1 with a double and Lorenzo Cedrola went 0/1. Nogosek did not play.

I know I just updated this one but he had another HR the other day.

Since May 1st, Longhi's line is now .297/.355/.462 on a .336 BAbip. 173 PA, 12bb/26k, 14 doubles, 4 HRs.
His last 14 games and 60 PA: .352/.407/.685 with a .356 BAbip. 4bb/6k, 3 HRs, 9 doubles.

As a 20 year old last year in 535 PA, he did hit 40 doubles, 3 triples and 2 HRs. 40 doubles suggest there is some power there and given he isn't 22 until August, he may have just started to tap into it. He's also been a 2nd half player for his entire career.

His overall line is still pretty bad at .263/.310/.411 but a .482 OPS in the month of April is going to be dragging his line down all season. 173 PA is also a fairly decent sample. Granted more than half his XBH have come in the last 14 games.

edit: He's also one of those weird people who bats R but throws L.

Also just noticed Bryce Brentz was slashing 368/.466/.736 on a .359 BAbip. 5 doubles, 9 HRs, 16bb/14k in 103 PA over his last 25 games.

And as I was pimping Longhi, he was replaced by a pinch runner in the 3rd having gone 0/2. That pinch runner being Devers. He is currently 1/1 with another 3b, while Tzu Wei Lin is currently 3/3 with a triple as well. Lin had been slumping a bit.

Trey Ball currently at 4.0ip, 5h, 1er, 3bb/6k on 85 pitches, 49 strikes.

edit: Ball finishes the day at 5.0ip, 7h, 1er, 3bb/7k 95 pitches, 57 strikes.
Lin is now currently 5/5 with a double and a triple. He also has a SB. He had been 1/17 in his prior 5 games.
Devers is 1/3.

Game is tied 2-2 in the top of the 9th with Lin on 2nd and 1 out. LIn went into the game at .275/.360/.423. ATM he's slashing .299/.379/.461. That's 15 xbh this year in 179 PA. He had 17 in 411 PA last year.

The timing is reasonable with the all star game being last night but that guy has a grand total of 3 posts so spoonfulls of salt are required.

FWIW - his source is a Salem player.
Now assuming it's true, I'm wondering if Lin is one of the two guys moving up to AAA, along with Devers (probably).

They've already promoted Tobias once and he has struggled a bit in Portland, so likely not the guy. Danny Mars is another possibility I guess but I doubt it.

You would certainly think so but they may keep him in AA through the all star game like they did with Chavis. They could split DH/3B for the next couple of weeks if they do that.
Eastern League game is in Manchester on July 12th.

Of course if they keep him they will have to juggle the roster so he is likely going.

Pretty exciting either way. Devers/Chavis in same lineup or both kids moving up.

In case anyone is wondering( I know I was) Devers is at 3rd and Chavis is DHing. Makes sense to break the new guy in just needing to worry about hitting in his first game.

I would hate, hate, hate, hate, hate watching Henry Owens pitch. 4ip, 3 h, 4er, 8bb/3k so far tonight. 89 pitches, 47 strikes. He may get another inning. 10 walks? Lets do it!

That's 69ip, 60bb/72k.

Lin hits a triple as well. That gives him 17 extra base hits for the year, the same amount he had last year.

Wonder if he's got an outside shot at a cup of coffee.
I would say he does. Marrero is unlikely to survive on the 40-Man another season, and next year (I think) he can become a minor league free agent.

Lin could take that role: glove-first depth infielder.

I guess the one strike against him is that he hasn't gotten much time outside of SS, and wouldn't see much time backing up Bogaerts. But ya, he's probably just as valuable as Marrero.

He has 12 games in CF and 32 at 2nd. Not very much time, but most players don't get much time at other positions or don't really need much time. He could potentially be another Brock Holt super sub guy. CF/2b/SS/3b, although he was pretty horrendous in his short time at 3rd. SSS and all though.

From what I've heard, he actually looks competent in CF and he has the arm strength to play LF and RF too. He'll be put on the 40 at the very least.

MLB At Bat just pushed a notification to my phone that he got called up? I can't find anything else online about it, maybe i read it wrong? Kind of exciting, if true.

LOL, I feel like this take held up pretty well. Lin called up, with Rutledge headed to the 10-day DL; Holt to the 60.

We're *pretty far down* the IF depth chart, my friends.

I'm excited. I saw Lin play in Hartford this summer and he looked *great* at the plate.

This is probably bad news for Marrero's roster spot, though. He'll be the one DFA'd as a result.

Lin played two innings at third for the big leaguers. Made a couple nice plays.

He's going to be changing his arm slot so trying it against weaker competition should allow him to get deeper into games to try the arm slot out.

I guess? Weird move.

Wonder if it's a coaching situation, where they have someone at AA they want him to work with?

Owens left his control problems in Pawtucket. 10 walks combined for 4 magical prospects in the PawSox game tonight. And Owens may have been giving Trey Ball tips, as Ball walked 5 in 6 IP, with only 1 H, but also only 1 K.

Still not sure if he'll make it, but found this interesting. He has 15 on the year.

yeah, he's been mashing. In that time period, .343/.432/.713, .338 BAbip. 11 HRs, 16bb/20k in 125 PA. Kinda sick.
