Interesting take at stratechery on the future of online content platforms in the wake of The Ringer-Vox partnership--seems relevant here in considering the model going forward.

His employment was terminated. I don't know whether he was laid off or fired.
Thank God you clarified that you don't know what happened.

Woj and Bobby Marks are coming over to ESPN per the official release this morning. I wonder what that means for Shams and Chris Mannix's futures.
Probably the first solid move ESPN has made in years, and I think that's safe to say that's not hyperbole.

Someone needs to explain how ESPN purged dozens and yet kept the several chins of Brian Windhorst.

Aloha means goodbye. Covering the NBA for ESPN fulfilled a life-long dream. Grateful to the game & the people in it that changed my world

I guess Chad Ford is out at ESPN. Unless he can go back and change it.

These joke ass coaches at a D3 school bringing in a criminal so they can get their glory going 5-4 should be in prison right next to the kidnapper dopes.
Oh, I'm guessing there is a lawsuit coming against the university for not telling the students who lived in that room what happened, for not moving them to a different room, and against the coaches and University for enabling the campus drug dealer because of his football skills. None of them commented on events for the article for a good reason.

That is a shame, I really like him on baseball as well as college basketball broadcasts. Is this because of the cutbacks or is this his decision?

His decision. He'll still be doing espn work.
n an interview with SI on Monday afternoon, Shulman said he is getting remarried next year and wanted a schedule to better fit being at home more in Toronto. He repeated several times during the interview that this was entirely his decision and not prompted by ESPN management.

“I certainly have mixed emotions about it but at the end of the day I chose to strike a better balance between my personal life and professional life,” Shulman said. “I’m grateful to ESPN for giving me this opportunity, and equally grateful that they agreed to let me reconfigure my situation in order to make this work. It was not an easy choice. I have been thinking about it for months. I still want to accomplish certain things professionally but getting the balance in my personal life was the important thing. The older we get I think we sometimes reprioritize and I guess I’m doing that.”

Chris Haynes of ESPN reporting that Hayward has agreed to sign a max deal with the Celtics. Blasted all over their site.

Meanwhile on Twitter, Woj and David Aldridge (no longer with ESPN) has Gordon's agents on the record saying no decision has been made ye

Haynes and Adam Himmelsbach (Boston Globe) say that it's because all parties haven't been notified of his decision yet.

I understand the need for these guys to feel they've "scooped" other reporters/newspapers/websites, but to have reporters on your own site disputing each other is a very bad look. If the news turns out to be true, their big acquisition (Woj) looks like a fraud. If it turns out to be false, then ESPN and Haynes look like fools. It's a lose-lose situation.

Adrian Wojnarowski under no circumstances will look like a "fraud" even if he is wrong. Handwringing over this is even funnier than the disagreements in the first place.

Woj will look like a fraud for reporting what the agent said?

Just how big of an idiot are you?

If Woj were reporting that Hayward was going back to the Jazz or to the Heat in contrast to Haynes (and ESPN's front page), and Haynes ended up being correct, then Woj looks bad.

Woj being cautious about confirming Hayward's destination because Hayward's people haven't confirmed anything seems like prudent reporting to me, even if Hayward ends up in Boston in the end.

Being wrong is bad. Being second or ninth to report something isn't.

Woj won't look bad anyway. Even if he's wrong, anybody who's worth anything will assume that something changed after he got his information because he's literally beyond reproach.

No, he will look like a fraud because his whole persona is "the guy who is first to break the news" and he got scooped by a colleague without any reputation for it.

BTW, the personal attacks make you look small. It's fine to disagree, but honestly you don't have to be an ass about it.

You literally just did that to 'Woj' though.
Saying that is a bad look for you, as it might cause some people to start talking about how you accuse other posters of causing the very shit they claim to not want to hear about.

1) Woj AFAIK isn't on this board
2) Did I just engage in a personal attack, or did I explain my opinion?

It's my opinion that E5 Yaz made a lazy personal attack instead of actually rebutting or discussing what he disagreed with. Yes, Woj quoted the agent, but that wasn't my point - it was that he was not only scooped (and I don't think anyone here disputes his reputation is that he breaks news in the NBA), he ended up being less informed than his (subordinate) colleagues and was for hours.

I should not have called you an idiot.

It was your post that was idiotic

1) That is a statement but I am unsure how it relates to this discussion.

2) This isn't an either or because Yes, you did engage in a personal attack on both Woj and E5 and, yes, you did explain your point.

I don't actually care if you engaged in a personal attack, whatever. Only that you did it in your first post and then the next post telling people not to do it and now again in your third post.

It's all good with me if you want to call people asses but, dude, own that shit.

I know that there is zero chance that someone at ESPN is going to screw up and accidentally publish a Body Issue picture of someone with visible nipple or pussy. I know this. And there are thousands of places that are one click away where I can see all the nipples and pussies I want to see. But that doesn't stop me from inspecting every single female Body Issue picture, just in case.

ESPN is very predictable and LaVar Ball plays them expertly. Top of ESPN.com is Lonzo bounces back. Followed by a LaVar interview. Followed by a Lonzo highlight. Finally a Magic Johnson interview on Ball. Not a mention of Tatum (or even Fultz who is also playing on their air tonight). ESPN gonna ESPN for the Lakers.

You think THATS bad?

Im going to have to avoid any Local sports radio here in LA (even the non ESPN ones) (such as the dodgers main radio station) as they will all be inundated with LAVAR/LONZO talk 24/7

It's a circular issue. People for whatever reason like to read/talk about the Ball family, so ESPN covers it. Of course, of ESPN and the MSM didn't give LaVar an outlet to spew his bullshit in the first place, LaVar wouldn't be a household name that people would want to read about.

Complaining about local sports radio talking about local sports seems dumb.
No... The local Laker radio affiliate here in LA is ESPN radio (TV is Spectrum's station) .... If I want to hear Lavar and his bluster I will turn into that. If I want to hear about the Kings/Dodgers/Clippers etc, I will turn into their primary radio station.... Problem is they will be forced to talk about it now.. Which annoys me.... and we know Lavar can't shut up even if you pay him to. So its going to be fun to hear Lavar talk 24/7 when there are OTHER sports teams in LA that are playing

He was due to retire to Maui but his retirement was hastened by the tragic death of his wife in an auto accident a few months ago and he hasn't been heard from since.
Chris Berman just introduced the necrology segment of the ESPYs. Mostly talking about John Saunders, but you could tell that he had other things on his mind as well.
