The draft has been over for a week and we just got our first article on it on the dot com. I am not impressed. It used to be that SOSH was the place to go for Red Sox information. When the draft was on or the day of the trade deadline SOSH was where you wanted to be. Now It appears, though I can be wrong, that the forum is being neglected in favor of the dot com. It is especially pronounce this year. I can't remember the last time the draft thread was this dead. I can't remember the last time there was so little chatter in the main board. I am kind of at the point where I am going elsewhere for my Sox news and given that SOSH has been a part of my life for over ten years now that makes me sad. I also want to add that I just read the piece on Tanner Houck. It was basically just a rehash of past drafts and the conclusion that we have no idea what we are getting from Houck. You mean draft picks are volatile? Who knew? I would love some in depth analysis of Houck from Philly fan or any of the SOSH members who follow prospects.

JFC, when did Rip get nice? We have gotten old if this bullshit didn't get both barrels of the flamethrower.

Oh well. Allow me to retort:

Take this whiny bulllshit and cram it where the sun don't shine. You are owed nothing and you've chosen to whine about the people who make an effort? You, @OptimusPapi, are the problem. Instead of contributing yourself, you've chosen to whine and moan about how it used to be better and how you are inconvenienced. Ahem. SHUT THE FUCK UP. You are the problem. Lazy, entitled, do-nothing fuckfaces like you have eroded this board. If you gave two fucks about, well, anything, you'd get off your lazy ass and you'd learn something, and then you'd share it with the group. But no. You have your needs, and other people are here to fulfill them - amirite?

If you've been waiting for me to show up and vomit knowledge into your mouth, open wide sweetie. Here comes the sustenance you so desperately crave.

I've been here (basically) since the beginning. The community has had its up and its downs, has seen a thousand good posters come and go, and the only real consistency is that there is ALWAYS some entitled, whiny fuckface like you, OptimusPapi, complaining it used to be better. Here's a fact: It was better before you got here. And it'll be better when you leave. Shitheels like you, who think they have some right to whine about what it used to be - with all 294 of your posts - ruin it for those of us who DO work hard on behalf of the site. For free. Without a thank you. Or a handjob. Nope, our thanks is usually some fucking twat like you whining about how we're not doing enough.

Again, for free.

The "problem" with SoSH is you. It is people glorifying the past, not realizing that the past was built on posters giving a shit, educating themselves, and sharing (for free) with the community. YOU MAKE THIS PLACE WORTH READING/VISITING. If you don't put in the work, shut your fucking mouth - or just say "thank you" and go on your way.

Either way, I don't give a fuck what you feel you are entitled to. You have no fucking idea how hard the Dopes and the .COM people work - FOR FREE - and you have no idea what it means to part of a community. All you do is take. You contribute nothing. You are so fucking lucky that @AlNipper49 subsidizes your worthless, "I Want Free Stuff!" ass and doesn't just toss free loaders and shitbags like you over the side. You deserve nothing. You should get nothing - but people like Brandon and Pete LITERALLY WORK HOURS EVERYDAY DOING THIS SHIT FOR EVERYONE'S BENEFIT AND ALL YOU DO IS SHIT ON THEM.

Fuck you, and fuck you, and fuck you. Take your free loading, do nothing, non-contributing ass somewhere else. You fucking loser.

And thus ends the entertainment portion of this thread. As a contributor to the .com, I'd like to thank those of you posting in reply to OP and request that anyone else wishing to address him to do so by PM. My response to his post has been covered pretty well by others in here.

Time to get this thread back on track with information and news about the picks.

Did you hear the announcers at CWS talk about Hauck tonight? Players in the SEC, when asked, who you didn't want to face again...unanimous answer was Hauck.

Fourth round pick Jake Thompson went 6 2/3 vs LSU giving up 6 H including 1 HR and 1 BB for 3 earned runs while striking out 5 yesterday. Unfortunately, I missed it. Hopefully Oregon State advances after their 3 ET game today so there is another opportunity to see him. For anyone who watched, what did you see?

I believe that makes Jake Thompson (4th) the only Red Sox pick not to sign yet out of the first ten rounds.

Not sure how the money is going to work, but a nice surprise tonight as Sox sign 14th rder Aaron Perry out of WV HS.
i read he was injured this year, but is capable of touching 97 on his fastball. I am kind of surprised he didn't try to reenter the draft later. The money must be insane.

4th-rder Jake Thompson signs w/@RedSox, $350k (pick 131=$397,800). Oregon St redshirt jr RHP, 92-96 & flashes solid SL at his best @MLBDraft
Good stuff. That should leave the Sox with as much as $50K or so in their pool +5% to use on later rd guys to give them a little bump over the $125K max. May have already used most of it up with Perry, Dearden and/or others.

If I'm doing my math right (and we all know I might not be) I'm getting:

Bonuses Paid: $5,879,500.00
Total Slot Allotment: $5,667100.00
5% cushion: $283,355.00
$ past Slot Value: $212400.00
Money remaining: $70,955.00

As far as I can see, they didn't go over on anyone in rounds 11-40, so maybe they squeeze in one of the dozen or so guys left unsigned.
