CBC announcers are spending the last minute debating whether they'll touch the Conf championship trophy.

Also: handshakes are going to be interesting.

I love being able to root for PK. He's an electric player and has a great personality off the ice. I've been in on the Predators since the Bruins were eliminated.

I was listening to Dave Lozo & Down Goes Brown's podcast and they had an entire bit about if the Predators were to play Ottawa and win a clinching game there, how quickly could Subban get from the arena to the Children's Hospital in Montreal with the cup. They were joking but just the thought of Habs fans having this happen to them makes me irrationally happy.

James Neal still sucks though

Yeah it's something like $25 million. That'd be wild, I'm rooting for it.

Habs fans are going to inevitably blame Weber for the trade after they get to Bergevin and run him out of town first. Pitch forks are being sharpened and torches are being made as we speak. They'll go to defcon 5 if Nashville wins this thing.

Yeah I saw that article. It's quite dangerous for Nashville since Weber can easily choose retirement over playing once the cash salary drops to only $1 million.

We're 1 or 2 lockouts away from this happening. I'd guess that if this ever became a reality, there'd be some sort of settlement between NSH and the league and the $25 million cap hit penalty wouldn't be applied.

Plus, Poile is 67 and may not be a team executive in 7-8 years so he likely doesn't give a fuck.

I imagine it will be similar to Kovalchuk where the penalty will be modified so as to not completely gut a team, which is certainly not in the best interest of the NHL or the rest of the owners. Not a 1:1 analogy given I don't see Weber going to Russia but close enough.

I think the NHL will find a way to have it apply over 10 (14-4) seasons if that ends up happening.

Either that or they'll have the cap hit on a player re-calculate on a trade.

Here's a rough example.

Player signed for 6/6/6/4/4/4. 5M cap hit. Plays 2 years for team X, traded to team Y.

Team X has had him for 2 seasons at 6M pay, 5M cap hit, they pay a 1M penalty the next 2 seasons following the trade.

Team Y gets player for the equivalent of a 4yr/18M contract (4.5M cap hit).

Ref two feet away doesn't call interference. Evidence after 10 minutes and 57 reverse angle slow mo replays there to overturn. The NHL everyone.

Also, Pageau just grabbed someone by the horse collar and pulled him down. Nasty.

But he didn't grab Anderson's pads and prevent him from making the save. That would be OK.

FWIW, I thought it was goalie interference earlier. Daley pushed him into the net then immediately put the puck in.

That was IMO one of the more obvious calls this series. Ottawa forward didn't even have to simulate driving through the contact
By the rule book it's 100% interference but they haven't enforced it in five years and certainly not in this series.

If Hainsey had let him go after the initial contact they don't call it. He pivoted and continued contact and rode him into the boards. Textbook interference.

And then Methot had to hold Crosby three different times to get called for it. I don't mind penalties being called... they should be called evenly. And they haven't been in Ottawa games since the day the playoffs started.

No argument there. Ottawa got away with like 5 interference penalties in the last minute around the net. They're getting away with a lot.

But Hainsey's was a penalty that's called every time.

Lol not sure how that blatant hand pass was missed - the 13k in Ottawa certainly saw it :fonz:
They escape fans wrath but I feel like linesman performance has gone down considerably in recent years too. Especially on icing calls.

What exactly did Rust do to get a penalty there? And how is there nothing on the eye gouge by Methot?
