One stop shop for rumors (no Murphy, please) and news ahead of tomorrow's 3:00 deadline.

Some of the bigger names have already gone, but there are still some intriguing pieces out there. Colorado hasn't done anything yet, and they'll likely sell even if they keep Duchene and Landeskog.

Tampa seems to still be wheeling and dealing. McKenzie reporting that they may have approached Valtteri Filppula about waiving his NTC.

He is a lot worse than most of the players that have moved though. Brendan Smith is not very good. He plays 17 minutes a night on one of the worst teams in the league.

Burrows and Stalberg are better-than-replacement upgrades for Ottawa. I'm starting to be more concerned about them over Montreal in the division. At this point, I'd totally look ahead to upsetting Montreal in the 1st round of the playoffs if it lined up that way.

Seems like Jaro Halak is going. The B's have supposedly been sniffing around for a backup G, so I wonder if they are in the mix. I have no interest unless the deal is Khudobin for Halak 50% retained. Halak is signed for $4.5mm cap hit next season.

Habs made a couple of moves. Desharnais to Edmonton for Brandon Davidson. 6th to Detroit for Steve Ott.

It's like the Habs and Sens are having an arms race to see who can acquire the most useless players. Awesome.

Elsewhere, Vancouver sends Janik Hansen to SJS for Goldibin and a conditional 4th.

Interesting wrinkle added...it appears that Vegas is in business. They can't acquire active NHL players, but then can make deals where they get a pick or prospect in exchange for not picking a player in the expansion draft.

Getting Vanek for basically nothing is a smart move, as one-dimensional as he is, that one dimension is valuable.

Islanders shopping Josh Ho-Sang. Would love the B's to buy low if the price is right

Habs acquiring mediocre players at a dizzying rate here. Jordie Benn, Steve Ott, Brandon Davidson, Dwight King.

Curtis Lazar and Mike Kostka to Calgary for 2nd, Jyrki Jokipakka

Parenteau to NSH for a 6th.

And 3. Here comes the wave.

Duchene and Landeskog stay in COL. Friedman says Vrbata stays in Arizona and BUF made no moves, so Kulikov stays.

No word on the B's yet.

Edit: I can't believe Vrbata didn't go

I'm not sure I see the value in Chayka not simply moving him for the highest bidder. He shouldn't be planning on being in a similar place again, which is the only reason I can see for hanging onto Vrbata -- making a point that you won't trade a player for less than fair value. "I'd rather keep him than give him away," is sensible if one will be in the market over and over again. But, right now, Phoenix is in an unusual spot. A second or third round pick would have more value to Phoenix, unless they really like Vrbata's locker room presence.

Andy Brickley's potty mouth
You know things are bad with management when you think to yourself "well, they didn't fuck anything up at the deadline, that's a win".

Maybe Sweeney actually knows what he's doing? I don't know, it's hard to tell.

As far as other inept organizations go, what was Colorado doing today? They've completely bottomed out and they'll finish the season with nearly the same roster they started with, less Iginla, of course.
