Well, I have a feeling Fred hates everything off the air, so he's probably correct.....

I have a hard time believing that they hate each other. They may not be as close as they used to be, but I'll never forget Fred on the air the day they announced Rich's wife was sick. You can't fake that.

That's why I think it's BS and just an attempt to troll and "challenge" their rivals who will be in the same building and area for Radio Row this week. Didn't Kirk "confront" Toucher face-to-face in a big brouhaha at Radio Row 2 years ago as well? It's all schtick.

If you listened to the show from when they first got here, it sounded like they spent just about all of their free time together both at their last job in Atlanta and here up until they had kids. I'm sure it's just Kirk trying to get more people to talk about him.

Yes and Fred got back on the air and mocked Kirk as being a man-child. Kirk got on the air and said Fred was a pussy because he wouldn't fight him.

Kirk's just stirring shit up as usual. To his credit, he's good at it. It's unlistenable but many don't think so.

a couple months ago kirk came on and said that everyone thinks fred is the a-hole and rich the super great nice guy on that show, but in reality it was rich that none of his co-workers could stand.
chris curtis (ex-98.5 employee) was asked to confirm this, and heartily agreed

i didn't put any faith into it, seemed like another cheap move by kirk to build up division

they did play the "Russillo? Rottillo?" part

never knew that Russillo lost his BCN pre/post game show gig over this row - that was my biggest takeaway from the interview

I tuned in to hear what they had to say about the CBS Radio-Entercom merger

They had some writer from DC on the other day who'd written a satirical piece about Brady and they were just yelling at him, telling him he was barely literate, not letting him say more than a couple of words, etc., and the guy just started laughing:

"Oh, is this your schtick? I didn't know!"
"Whaddaya mean schtick? What?"
"Like, you call writers up and just yell at them and that's your thing? Cool, cool. I just didn't know."
"We don't have a schtick..."
"Seriously, this is fun. I just thought we were going to have, like, a discussion on the radio. I didn't realize it was a bit. Hey guys, call me up for this any time!"
"What? Oh, yeah, no, we can have a discussion. That's what we want."
"Nah, I can't even start with you guys. It would just take too long."
"Oh, what we're, like, beneath you? We couldn't follow you?"
"Yeah, pretty much. It would just take too long to explain all the background, and stuff. But, hey, I like you guys. This is fun. Call me up any time."

Then they cordially hang up and Kirk and Gerry are like, "I like that guy. I'm going to start reading his stuff."

So funny.

That IS perfect. I can't believe he's the first person to catch on and say that to them.

Holy shit, that made my day.

There was some uncomfortable moments in that interview. When they guy said that it's hard for white people to understand because a lot of them don't experience racism first hand, Gerry asked the guy where he lived. He said DC. Gerry said, "OK then, tell me how the white man is keeping you down?" The guy said he experiences racism on a regular basis and Kirk called him a liar.

But the ending was perfect.

That's a typical Callahan and Kirk response, "If it doesn't happen directly to me, it never happened."

"Climate change? Bah, it snowed here yesterday, Einstein!"
"Racism? In 2017? Whatever, snowflake. It never happened to me!"
"Universal healthcare? No one wants that. I mean, I don't need it, so I'm not sure how anyone else could either. Liberals!"

Today during Holley and Keefe they played a promo for Kirk and Callahan and it was a clip of Kirk and some other douche shitting on Mut while he was in studio and culminating in Kirk laughing at such an incredibly high pitch it sounded like a hamster wheel squeaking.

The problem isn't that Kirk is a miserable sack of shit with the attention span of a goldfish, but that management openly encourages them to shit on the other hosts on the station in some brazen attempt to generate interest. It's absolutely pathetic for a professional work environment to do that.

Listening to Holley yesterday it was interesting to hear him say that the guys at 98.5 were nervous about their future, Considering 98.5 has led the ratings across the board for a couple years.

It'll be interesting how Kirk handles this and how far Entercom will let him shit on everyone else at both stations.

Interesting. Is Entercom going to favor "their boys" out of spite or something nothwithstanding the ratings?

Felger obviously has nothing to worry about. I give him a lot of crap at times, but he's far and away the best radio host on either station.

Mazz, on the other hand...

Spot on. Mazz's owes 100% of his broadcasting success to Felger. The day they part ways, he becomes Brian Dunkleman.

Felger was off on Friday. Mazz and Jim Murray might have pieced together the worst talk show in Boston sports history. I couldn't make it past ten minutes. As much shit as Felger gets, he puts asses in the seats.

By the way, when these guys go on their rants about people like Bomani Jones, Charlotte Wilder etc being weak or cowards or whatever for blocking people on twitter, just know that Fearless Minihane blocked me awhile back for making a snarky comment about how Mike & Mike make more money than he does.

Clearly you are mistaken. This is Kirk "MAD DOG" Minihane you're talking about right? He wants to fight Fred Toucher! He's threatened to kick the ass of guys on radio row! He's responsible for the ouster of John Dennis! He's really tough, I mean he tells his listeners multiple times, every day; so it has to be true.

I don't think that K"MD"M would block anyone. I'm sorry, I just refuse to believe it.

I don't like Jemele Hill professionally, but I can't stand Minihane, both personally and professionally. It feels weird to pull for Hill.

Any other Boston sports media prepared to die on this wall like Gerry and Kirk? They most be chomping at the bit to get back on the air to spew this take for all it's worth.

Callahan still trudging along this morning. I listened for 5 minutes. He all but called Jones a liar. Said Jones never told the police about the racist stuff, only the peanuts being thrown at him. Couldn't tell the cop what the person looked like, or what seat/section he was sitting in. Fans giving a standing O last night and media defending Jones are nothing but pandering fools.

Gee, it's stunning that KKKallahan doubts that Jones suffered racial abuse. Just stunning I tell you.

He's got to be the absolute worst human being working in the Boston media today, and that's really saying something given the competition.

Yes, the station wants him to creep as close as possible to the line. And then cross it, and then have a faux suspension and apology. The others station happily aids and abets two bozos making wholly unsubstantiated charges of PED use by professional athletes in Boston.

Yeah, I don't really listen to EEI in the morning because I'm out of market and, more importantly, the morning show is generally bad whenever I've tuned in through the internet. Today's show was about as bad as I had imagined it would be. I listened off and on essentially out of morbid curiosity. Callahan is genuinely invested in this not being true. All the energy is not even being spent on disproving the allegations, it's working from the presupposition that there is a zero % chance that this happened: dismissing callers that can even imagine this scenario, trying to discredit someone named Neko, and essentially attacking Jones. In his mind, Jones is pulling the "race card" to be seen as a victim and become a hero. Anyone that disrupts his world view is met with condescension. It's a really bad look, not that he cares. What bothers me is that -- to some -- this guy may represent Boston and New England given his platform. It just sucks.

Edit: I would add that I tuned in yesterday afternoon to D&H. It was a much more measured take and was enjoyable to listen to for the 45-60 mins I listened to in the car. This is a topic that deserves some introspection. I simply don't think Callahan is capable of that. What's worse, is that none of the people in the studio were willing to oppose his view in any way.

Yeah, I think it was Mutt and Meter (who I feel kind of bad for with his pathetic few appearances on radio these days) were filling in for Kirk. They basically just "yes manned" anything Callahan had to say.

The fact that Callahan is still on the radio after the things he verifiably said (on tape and everything) may be the strongest argument that Boston has a serious race problem.

So just to recap:

Price: liar
Jones: liar
Michael Che: liar
El Hassan (?) from ESPN: liar
Hennick: liar

And this is Minihane too, btw. He loves to say how "afraid" everyone is to agree that black people fabricate racist incidents. Well Kirk, I'm not afraid to say that you've blown past just being a contrarian/troll and have revealed yourself to be a stold cold racist, just like your partner. Congrats on the great ratings, though.

Great comment from Gerry this morning while they were discussing Remy's statement last night that translators shouldn't be allowed to accompany the pitching coach to the mound. I don't know who the guest/third voice was, but he said Remy's opinion sounded like a racist comment. Gerry responded "I don't think it's racist, I agree with him." QED.

Edited for clarity

I had it on for a few minutes at 6am and Gerry seemed giddy about the shooting yesterday. Only liberal nut bags on the left resort to violence!

Outside of the content, I don't understand how anyone can listen to this show for more than 5 minutes without getting a head ache. They constantly are stepping all over the other person talking, interjecting, making random side comments while the other person is talking, shouting the same thing over and over. 90% of the time 2-3 people are talking at once, which is horrible radio.

I know that he isn't well-liked in this forum, but my heart goes out to Kirk Minihane who just announced on Twitter losing his mother to pancreatic cancer just months after losing his father. I can't even imagine how tough that has to be.

Sad to lose both parents in such a short period of time. Maybe it'll make him a better person, realize life is short and being a giant asshole isn't the best way to spend your life.
