It's not getting any better in the second half.
slightly better now

edit: if that Fraser goal had just been called a foul for the shove into the back of Bellerin we'd be level now... or does shoulder to shoulder count when it's from behind?

Even if these losers scrape a point from this, this has been a COMPLETE shitshow and if you didn't already assume the title was gone, it is now.

Fuckin shambolic. They should be ashamed of themselves but thats not an emotion that exists inside the Emirates apparently.

always good to get the mikeford hyperbole.

edit: not that they haven't played like crap, but is it that important to you to be the first to call the season over already?

Real weak call to send Francis off for that challenge IMO - Giroud levels in extra time, few more minutes remaining

Good lord, what was that game.

Glass half full: one point is better than none.
Glass half empty: this was supposed to be a match week to pick up points on Chelsea, and now at the absolute best we get one back but lose two to Spurs.

A good comeback, but a bad result no matter which way you cut it.

looks like the Cherries need a few defenders this transfer window...they gave up 3 vs Liverpool earlier

I mark this as a loss by Eddie Howe...not sure why they played so deep after scoring third goal...they barely had possession after that point

surprised no one is screaming at Xhaka conceding a penalty

I am hardly the first. Maybe in the thread but if you look at how the EPL historically works, Arsenal was out of the title picture before this game even kicked off.

My unsolicited thoughts on the game:
  • Arsenal looked the worse I have ever seen for lengthy stretches early in this game. Probably their worse passing display I have witnessed.
  • While Giroud was MOM (1 goal and 2 assists) I can't help but feel that some of the team's disjointed performance was due to him starting. Alexis just shouldn't be started out wide any more.
  • Ramsey looks like crap wherever he is playing.
  • I am in the camp that the comeback and the 1 point are a good thing.
  • I thought the ref made some great calls and some questionable ones. Overall he produces less screaming at the TV than many other EPL referees for me at least.
  • So sick of the "Title Race is Over" announcements. The pundits rush to announce it (or "the end of X's title hopes") way too soon. I think the season was 3 games in and I heard someone announce that Man City were "clear title favorites." After 3 games? C'mon. There's a lot of season left to play - and I still feel that there's gonna be dropped points by all the top teams before its over.

Isn't that backwards? There's less competition this year, because the bottom teams suck--the 1st to 6th gap is the same. The top 6 aren't more competitive, they've just beaten up on the shit teams more. The GD says the same--5 teams +19 or better, last year 0 were at this time. Five teams with more goals scored than the top team last year at this time.

That's less competition.

Potato? Potatoe?

I guess what I'm saying is that the increased points doesn't necessarily mean they're playing better, there's just more points available cuz there's shitty teams out there.

Top six teams last season averaged 3.6 losses after 20, this season: 2.83 losses

Hull City and Swansea this season equates to 2x Aston Villa last season

It was a pretty soft call. Not an absolute howler, but it was more of a "put my hand on you so I know where you're going" than a shove.

Xhaka concedes way too much crap in general, but that didn't make my season lowlights list for him. He also had a hell of a chip for the assist on, I think, the first goal.

Stolen from Arseblog comments section:
"Minutes of Giroud's last six goals: 89th, 91st, 17th, 86th, 48th, 89th."

"the game tonight was very similar to the last time we faced preston, back in 99, in that game we went 2-0 down, yeah really, our team, double holders, with Dixon, Bould, Keown, Vieira, Petit, Parlour and Overmars in the starting 11 and we were lucky it was only 2-0, but much like tonight, we fought our way back into the game and won it in the end.
Good job for the team in 99 that they did not have to contend with the experts on twitter and arsenal blog world, or else the performance would have gone down in history and all fans would know to slag them off and not be calling them legends."

straight red for a challenge that was barely a yellow, no red for the burnley defender for a far worse challenge, 7 minutes of stoppage time and that penalty... do the refs have money on this game?

Xhaka played a bad game and then lost his mind. Never give the refs a reason to show you off. Woof.

Snatched 3 points from the jaws of defeat for sure.

Now that he finally didn't score in a game he started - can we sit Giroud and move Alexis back to the central striker role?

This team looked so much better with him in that role to start the game.
