Jets GM Mike Maccagnan addressed his two young quarterbacks. On Bryce Petty: "I'm not going to speculate on what his ceiling may be. I think Bryce has a lot of potential. ... He has the physical ability to potentially develop into a starter. It's really up to him." On Christian Hackenberg: "We like Christian as a prospect. He's a young player; he's only 21 years old. He has made progress and he does have potential that we're focused on trying to make him develop."

The more I see what other GMs say, the more I appreciate the Patriots approach. "... (T)rying to make him develop" sure sounds as though Hackenberg is resistant to coaching

Still waiting for the first team to say, "we're planning on largely ignoring the draft and building our team through free agency." They ALL say "we're trying to build through the draft." Some actually do it (some don't).

Jets owner Woody Johnson will be the U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom, President-elect Donald Trump announced today in Washington. Trump referred to Johnson as "ambassador" during remarks at a D.C. luncheon, per the NY Post. This has been rumored for months. Johnson, a major Trump fundraiser, said recently it "would be an honor to be considered" for the post. Johnson would be required to live in England. He'd probably have to give up day-to-day control of the team. His brother, Christopher, reportedly could assume that role.

The last time Woody supported putting a loudmouthed blowhard in power, he spent 8 years as a man in charge. (Shudder.)
I think it was 6 with the NYJ and (almost) 2 with the Bills. I was stretching for the sake of a joke that might not have been worth stretching for, but hey, I go the extra mile.
