Missed the other thread - DOH!That is being discussed in the thread about the new kickoff rule. Short answer is that yes some did but the Pats did it more and better.
He completely flattens Demps.I never get tired of watching that Edelman block. What a beauty!
I liked Zolak's crack about how the Pats should have a deal with IHOP after that one!He completely flattens Demps.
On his podcast yesterday he took the NFL to task for deflategate and praised Sally Jenkins to no end. So he's not all in on cheatriots stuff. But he has mentioned how he doesn't like BB the man.(BTW, the only irritating part of the segment occurs very early on where Young first floats his thesis and Kornheiser immediately jumps on the idea that the Patriots are somehow cheating again to gain this competitive advantage, forcing Young to clarify that what they are doing is essentially just working harder and smarter. I know Kornheiser is smarter than this and was just looking for something sexy, but the speed with which he was ready to call out the mob and light the torches was frightening)
I saw it as well. As soon as Tony asked that question, they also immediately had a graphic up, the essence of which was, "patriots preparation within the rules?" As you alluded to, Young quickly, and pretty vehemently, clarified that he admired what the Patriots do, and was not suggesting anything against the CBA was going on. I really don't get too worked up over this stuff anymore, not like during the height of deflate-gate. But this type of idiot, hot-take trolling will never totally stop exasperating me I guess. Will always be at least some part of the narrative with the BB/TB era Pats, unfortunately. A related question: I thought the new CBA restrictions were mainly about on field practice/ limits to practing in pads. Is there anything in there regarding not being able to expect/demand that players study the playbook at home/in their off hours? That's essentially what Young was alluding to in his praise of their culture. Not sure where else to put this, but it seems apropos.
Last night's (10/26) episode of PTI featured Steve Young on their 5 Good Minutes segment. Most of it was spent fellating the Patriots. Young actually had a semi-coherent thesis, namely that Belichick's insistence that players put in the time to learn and digest the Patriots' complex playbook represents a distinct competitive advantage over the rest of the NFL. In contrast, other teams have a much more restricted playbook because the current CBA limits the amount of prep and practice time players are required to put in. Young likened it to the NFL returning to a more college-like situation in terms of the amount of familiarity players get with a particular system. However, the Patriots "push back" against this as much as they can through Belichick and through a corporate-culture enforcement process. As evidence for this, Young offered an anecdote from Randy Moss, where he said one of his early experiences with New England was Brady upbraiding him publicaly for not knowing the playbook, and letting him know that was unacceptable.
Hadn't heard that particular one floated before, so it interested me.

Didn't Ochocinco have one recently too talking about the culture and how it throw him off?
Something about first day back film study in the new season (Ocho's first) and there is Bill putting up the Jets playoff loss from the year before, and he just lights into Brady asking him all kinds of questions, pointing out mistakes. Ocho didn't understand what was going on as you aren't supposed to go after the QB like that in his experience.
I think someone posted it in a thread somewhere here. Maybe even this one.
Well Sally writes for The Post so Tony's support for her is not unexpected. He's still a Post man at heart. And he has complained multiple times on his radio show about how BB treated him when he was doing MNF and they would have their pre-game production sit downs. I'm sure BB treated them the same way he does press conferences. On his podcast yesterday he took the NFL to task for deflategate and praised Sally Jenkins to no end. So he's not all in on cheatriots stuff. But he has mentioned how he doesn't like BB the man.
In pursuit of this, what did you think of the discussion with Freeman about Wilbon's "heads will roll" prediction w.r.t. l'Affaire Brown? They specifically went to the issue of it being evidence of preferential treatment for favored owners, but I'm still having a hard time seeing how other owners ever force NFL HQ to do anything about this. Aren't the favored owners the ones with the most clout? On his podcast yesterday he took the NFL to task for deflategate and praised Sally Jenkins to no end. So he's not all in on cheatriots stuff. I saw the thread bump and thought they'd posted this a day early. Damn you, NOW what am I supposed to do with this boner?
I've been looking both yesterday and today - only thing I can guess is that they're basically on vacation this week and he'll film it next week when everyone's back in the office and such.
I mostly want to hear him say, in his subtle and often understated way, exactly what he thinks of that goddamn block by Floyd.
They are definitely not on vacation this week, but possibly saving it until next week.I'm hoping there will be one for the Fins. Maybe, as Instaface says, it's just late (IIRC, it was during the bye week, too), or maybe they stop making them when the regular season ends. Does anyone know for sure?
